i find the debate over "published fic" or "filing off the serial numbers" to be too myopic in that all fiction exists as descendant of something else. this book is repurposed "star wars" fanfiction, but "star wars" is a lean-kurosawa cowboy soup. you keep going back until you get to the first fire.

that and also I’ve always felt it would take way too much lowering of his guard for Cooper to do that on a safety level, like I don’t think he trusts ANYONE enough not to try to kill him to have sex with them, he’s had no one to watch his back, etc.
