A question I often get is about the difference between quantify and qualify. Here is a quick definition:

Quantify - think numbers (amounts, sum, percentages)
Qualify - descriptive nuance or context (people at the conference were engaged, or he's fast for a catcher [baseball reference]).

Start your Likert scales at zero instead of one.

Why? A scale that begins at zero makes “none” or “no opinion” a natural starting point, reducing bias. Plus, it aligns better with data analysis—zero-based scales make comparisons and calculations more intuitive.

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.
