Maybe Sincaraz skip more tournaments you know. The season is long and all. Tienvedev need time to build a strong relationship. And surely there are more cousins on the ATP tour 👀🎾

Tomorrow we get an all American Final in Wuhan (Pegula v Gauff) and the Cousin Final (Vacherot v Rinderknech) in Shanghai. I’ll be back later today with more thoughts but go enjoy the weekend Ground Passers. Sunday is a Ground Pass final day if we ever could have scripted one! 🎾

Guys I took a workout break and I came back to the best day in tennis 🥹🎾

Another rivalry with little hype around it but always produces great matches is Aryna Sabalenka v Jessica Pegula. Sabalenka has pretty much breezed past her draw until now. Pegula has stepped up to play! Great match.

Last post on this, still haven’t had my coffee 🤯. Valentin Vacherot, and his cousin Rinderknech, are alumni of Texas A&M. Another success story of the college route, an increasing popular option for young players hoping to go pro. Hoping to tackle this subject during the off szn 🎾

Vacherot is the lowest ranked player to reach the finals of a Masters. He barely even made the cut for qualifying. A couple of year ago he wouldn’t have even made it near the gates of this tournament.

Valentin Vacherot was an alternate into qualifying for the #RolexShanghaiMasters he has now made the finals, broken into the top 100 and will not have to play qualifying for Slams next year! His career/life has changed. In 2 weeks. That’s what this part of the season is for. 🎾

If anyone was to trademark Winning Ugly it should be Coco Gauff. This was not the cleanest of matches and Paolini was not at the level she was at yesterday and it was Gauff to come through in the end. Paolini still has work to do to make it to Riyadh in singles.

Valentin Vacherot just gave a masterclass on how you handle pressure and you play a man and not a reputation. FINALLY, this season someone has done it! If the rest of the ATP is not watching they better be.

With no Sincaraz the question was who was going to take advantage. As we reach the semifinals the answer might just be Daniil Medvedev. He might have cramped his way here but getting Tien off his back might have been all the confidence he needed.

UNREAL performance from Jasmine Paolini. She brought out her top top level to beat Iga Swiatek for the first time. And keep her self ahead of Rybakina in the race to the end of year finals. That was flawless.

Arthur Rinderknech is into the semifinals and the feel good story of the Shanghai Masters continues. Rinderknech joins his cousin Vacherot in the semis and the dreams of a cousin Finals is still alive.

Is Valentin Vacherot the most surprising Masters 1000 SFist ever???

Love this story, outside the Top 200, came through qualifying and from a small country, beating some tough players in brutal conditions.

Didn’t really know what to expect from this match between Coco Guaff and Shuai Zhang but the first few games have delivered already.

From Qualifying to the Semifinals. All of Valentin Vacherot matches have happened while we were sleeping but we have followed his run and his parallel path with cousin Rinderknech. Now in the top 100 which is big leading into the next slam. Don’t tell us this part of the season means nothing. 🎾

While we are at it which do we like better. Came up with Medditien 🐟 (sounds like a play on mediterranean) but see a lot of Tienvedev 👨🏻‍🎓 too. Whatever you call them tho, more of Medvedev vs Tien please and thank you draw makers
And since Blue Sky doesn’t have a poll feature use the emojis in reply 🎾

He did it!!!!
Daniil Medvedev finally gets a win over Learner Tien. Wow. What a rivalry. Pencil me in for their next match. Could watch those long rallies and dramatic antics for days. Nice day of tennis ✌🏾

Sincaraz!?! I don’t know her. The hottest rivalry in tennis is Medditien. The match between Daniil Medvedev and Learner Tien isn’t even over and I am wondering when their next possible meeting will be. Daniil might hate it but this match up is everything

Still in the race! The thing I love so much about Felix Auger-Aliassime recent rise is that it wasn’t all of a sudden, it didn’t involve a team change, it was all about head down, hard work and belief that the results would come eventually. The race to Turin is hot 🔥

I think they are both worth talking about but tying the wether to schedule I think prevents the necessary need to talk about innovative solutions. I think just saying schedule is actually a cop out. It’s easier than looking at the weather issue and what solutions we will need to make play possible.
