Scenes from a work day; another turtle tray. For this one, as it's a Sharon Hoppe Designs texture board, I went with a form I got from her as well. It's as cute as a dang button, but I do feel it's missing a little something. Handles, maybe?

ANYWAY. Studio organization is still something I'm working on this week. What about you? What are you up to, either in work or in life or in work/life? Reading anything good? See any good Halloween/horror movies lately? Got any cool projects going on?

I measured, got a pencil, made some marks, and got my drill. I have all these amazing wooden shelves that Tim built for me when we moved in, and the way he built them, there's juuuuust enough room on the front of each shelf to hang some rolling pins. BAM! As the kids say. Do kids still say that???

Fortunately, when the racks came in, it turned out that the way they were going to need to be put together, I could actually just use the holder part and not the wall hanging part (I hope that makes sense).

While they were being shipped I thought about where to put them, and I discovered that the reason I have so much wall space in two places is because … I CAN'T REACH THOSE WALLS EASILY. So there's no point in me hanging them there, because I need at least one a week. Why would I make it hard?

The only ones I could find that were close to the same height had curved tops. I did find wall wine racks so I started looking at those. I found one that held 12 bottles, did some measuring, figured out I could use them for my pins if I didn't mind if they were a little sideways, so I bought two.

I started looking for standing wine racks, as I have one right now that a friend found for me at a resale store. Are you surprised that it's already full? I thought if I found one the same height, I could put a long board across the top and put the grid boxes on top of that, saving floor space.

Works in Progress Wednesday! Update from last week - I spent a long time searching for wall-hanging units for displaying rolling pins. I found tons but most held between 1 and 3 pins (and I have 25) and/or they were gorgeous and fancy and expensive (I do not want to spend a lot of money on this).

A floor to almost-ceiling set of shelves that run the length of one wall, approximately 40 feet. They are filled to the brim with bisque, unglazed ceramics, paster molds, and on the top, boxes of paperwork and random piles of things. On the front of each shelf, a wine bottle holder has been screwed. Instead of holding wine bottles, they are holding a variety of textured rolling pins.

Scenes from a work day; I have a feeling this texture is going to rocket to one of my favorite things to play with!

A handbuilt clay tray, just built and still drying. The edges are all being held up by pieces of wood so that they don't fall down. The texture is one of sea turtles, waves, bubbles, and shells, all in a giant wavy pattern. On the upper right and lower left corners of the tray are small turtles, balanced.

.... it looks like a corn cob! COME ON! The only thing that could make it more meta would be if it was made out of corn (it's not; it's made out of ceramic).

New in the shop, corn on the cob dishes (https://www.haldecraft.com/products/corn-on-the-cob-dish). Tired of the melted butter getting all over everything else on your plate when you have corn on the cob? How about a little dish, perfectly sized and shaped for a cob of corn, and.... (wait for it)

I bet if we told Pumpkin Spice Palpatine that of course he's not in the Files, Epstein only wanted to include rich, virile, good-looking geniuses... That he'd release those files in a hot minute to prove he's all those things.
