Conor Bradley impressed last night by all accounts, but once again picked up a costly yellow card, meaning he’ll miss the game against Germany.

It’s one part of his game he really needs to eliminate, at present it feels too easy for sides to bait him into naive fouls.

For sure, there’s a lack of balance. It should compliment our understanding of football, not seek to define everything.

“I have come to believe over the course of covering football for a couple of decades that there is a fundamental superficiality to analysis of the game. We do not know how individuals are feeling at any given time and what effect that is having on their performance. Jota’s death a stark example.”

The Nobel Committee has decided to award the 2025 #NobelPeacePrize to Maria Corina Machado for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.

That couldn’t be more apt.

Polanski very strong on Question Time tonight.

I loathe that show but he clearly resonated with the audience by taking on the lazy arguments seeking to demonise immigrants

Dog whistle Jenrick, talking over people with his rehearsed lines.

The guy should have faced jail time for his corruption years back

Wow. Robert Jenrick doubles down by branding a black journalist's questions "ridiculous" and saying that the problem is not his comments, but "journalists like you who pop up and try to knock me down", adding that "this is the reason why terrorist attacks happen". ~AA

We’ve still seen smart operators use those very platforms or others (X is lost) to cultivate a followings or be early adopters of the next ones.
harisethi.bsky.social
Yes. They’re just more vested interests at the end of the day, but it’s a medium the left needs to embrace & master, instead they allowed the far right to get a head start
harisethi.bsky.social
All these years we’ve had to watch as political/news media orgs were constructed to protect vested interests. Then we finally get a tech that can outdo that old machinery in social media & the left’s approach to adopting the new form of mass communication has largely been condescending & shit.
harisethi.bsky.social
Yeah that’s a fairly honest reading based on the broad history of the Dems.
harisethi.bsky.social
They can’t even bring themselves to endorse Mamdani. That party needs a hostile takeover in the same way Trump commandeered the GOP.
harisethi.bsky.social
It’s going to be a long international break of antagonistic & insincere think pieces on what’s going wrong for the side 1pt off the top of the league.

Is the manager a fraud?

Is Salah lazy & washed?

Why isn’t Wirtz Messi?

Do yourself a favour & find a good book.

A few years ago City would have rolled all over Brentford after that first goal. They don’t have the same intensity at both ends of the pitch as consistently these days.

Haaland, Donnaruma & Rodri (injury willing) are good enough to keep them in check though.

Luckily there’s plenty of functional thick footballers, so even if that’s true he could be drilled into a useful cog
harisethi.bsky.social
A key question yeah. Doesn’t make much sense to use him as we have
harisethi.bsky.social
Bigger issue is the other side
harisethi.bsky.social
Yeah I think it’s more narrative to be honest. He’s had tough moments but think he’s clearly focussed on improving & the manager’s seemingly decided not to play to his strengths so far
harisethi.bsky.social
Hilarious that Palace lose that record to Everton of all teams.
harisethi.bsky.social
I think the Moreno shouts are lazy personally, I understand why they exist though

He’s young enough to be coached into being a stronger footballer, he makes more sense in transition & I really think we’d have seen more from him in an attacking sense if Lucho was still here.
harisethi.bsky.social
Surely his speed, tenacity & overlapping runs - which we seem intent on not using at all.
harisethi.bsky.social
Surely you sign a Kerkez to play to his strengths, especially when you lack pace up top & Gakpo is as predictable as the sun rising?

Definitely think our attacking clicking masks a bunch of issues.

Not suggesting it’s a purely midfield issue btw, just more emphasis on them to create at present.
harisethi.bsky.social
Just made a post on exactly this - that we have created enough to have gotten more from this patch.

*But* I do think we are having issues building effectively from the back against teams that press us.

Perhaps Mac getting fit solves it but the passing maps show it’s something we’re dealing with.
harisethi.bsky.social
In spite of the issues we’re having with building from the back at present & the illogical instructions we’re giving our fullbacks, we’ve still created chances across the past 2-3 losses that you’d expect our attackers to have finished.

The difference between one narrative & the lazy ones we have
harisethi.bsky.social
Yeah, I’m not suggesting that was the plan, but I’m not seeing any clear plans for how we solve it unless we’re just waiting for Mac to get fully fit.
