Apparently the yellow box will make right turns easier - not really out point, but they will put up signs - do signs get read?

We'll keep an eye on how it works and more news on the Main Road cycle track when we know more!

The council's director's decision comments that an exemption to the banned turn can be considered - that's not an actual decision.

On the good news front, there is apparently a cycle track scheme between Upper Brentwood Road and the Ring Road being designed - this could be transformational!

on drivers stopping at the proposed zebra crossing on Pettits Lane.

We said there needed to be a comprehensive redesign of the junction which properly considered cycle safety and accessibility, potentially with a signalised solution.

We were concerned that drivers turning right into Pettits Lane would be concentrating on a gap in traffic, rather than people using the proposed zebra crossing.

We were worried that drivers turning left into Pettits Lane might be worried about keeping out of the proposed yellow box with shunt

The banned turn had no exemption for cycles. National guidance states that cycle traffic should be exempt.

The refuge on the existing Main Road zebra crossing and hatching was to be widened and we were concerned it would "pinch" people cycling even more.

This consultation closes today!

*** New Consultation ***

#Havering council is consulting on Phase 2 of its electric vehicle charging point scheme.

We are concerned that several of the proposals will be placing charging units on narrow footways and so have written to object to the following sites:

Cedar Road
Malvern Road

*** #Havering council decision ***

Kings Park in Harold Wood will be getting a permit parking scheme.

We are pleased to see this as managing car parking is important from a safety perspective and with this location, it will prevent people driving into the area and parking for Harold Wood station.

We think it's #Havering council's role to investigate the art of the possible with every project they will be spending money on. Managing the road network for only those who drive is exclusionary.

And here with me being a bit pedantic with myself. Runs in 4 stages:
🚦 Main road, both arms, tidal early cut-off to clear right turns.
🚦 Western arm
🚦 Eastern arm
🚦 All round pedestrians and cycles

1 to 3 are essentially the council's plan with the staggered junction, 4 clearly new.
A skew crossroads with a two way cycle track on both sides of the main road which runs top left to bottom right. There are various routes through the junction for cycles to access the side roads which are too narrow for cycle tracks and cycle lanes. There are single stage crossings for pedestrians, although they have to cross the cycle tracks on the main drag. Traffic has an ahead/ left and right turn lane on the main road arms.

Very little being consulted on by #Havering and we think it will be even quieter in the months running up to next May's London local elections, but we would recommend you complete the community safety survey and add as much as you can about safer streets

How will TfL and Havering cope with a 10-20% increase in car trips when households move to EVs?

What has been the impact of Norway’s shift to electric vehicles?

New study finds: “… BEV ownership leads to an overall increase in car trip demand in the order of 10–20%. This reflects shifts from ICEV to BEV use, but also sizeable shifts away from public transport use, cycling and walking.”
The effect of battery-electric vehicle ownership on transport demand and substitution between modes
Transport decarbonization is a key part of moves to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. A major component of this involves shifting private car us…

Two weeks to go. Respond by 11th August.

Between Sept 2023 & Sept 2024, vehicle numbers in London's ULEZ zone increased from 1.97m to 2.1m. NO2 has reduced considerably, but there's still more to do.

We need a higher, fairer congestion charge, to ensure less traffic and less #AirPollution.
