Older people living in the North are more likely to be frail or have a fall that requires hospital treatment, compared to those in the South East. Our Ageing in the North report exposes the vast inequalities older populations face in our regions #OlderPersonsDay

We've also got @hannahdavies.bsky.social of @healthequitynorth.bsky.social talking about disproportionate welfare cuts under austerity years in the North, and how tackling child poverty and increasing child outcomes is already harder starting from a much lower baseline.

Increasing investment in adult social care and developing an NHS-led strategy to address physical inactivity could improve the health of older populations. @durham-university.bsky.social's Professor Charlotte Clarke sets out why these policies are essential.

But they must also recognise that these issues are the result of lifelong experiences and inequalities. To achieve real tangible change, we need policies that improve lives as a whole - and tackle these issues long before they escalate."
