You want to read about how witchcraft practice aligns with cultural movements or how claims of Satanic possession align with hyper-conservative swings, read my book. It is more than just a list of witch movies. It is a cultural history: gender, politics, religion, rebellion, liberation, & industry.

Day 11 of the 2025 Witch Film Festival

The Wizard of Oz (1939)

No big surprise that this film makes top 10 lists year after year! (It tops my list.) Both Glinda & the Wicked Witch are standard bearers of witch representation in the US.

Day 10 of the 2025 Witch Film Festival

The Witches (1990)

An adaptation of a Roald Dahl book, this movie brings nostalgia for so many with an unforgettable performance by Anjelika Houston. For a kids movie, it's quite terrifying. R

‪Day 6 of the 2025 Witch Film - and tv - Festival

Rosemary's Baby (1968)

This was another game changer. It was the gateway into Satanic witchcraft horror that would reign supreme into the 1970s. The Castevets love their mousse a bit chalky.

Bewitched (1964-72)

This was a game changer. Samantha, Endora, all the Darrins & the rest of the cast bridged the gap between old school TV & what was to come.

If this country was truly “pro-life,” we would have Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, gun reform, universal child care, and a living wage.

The right-wing agenda isn’t about “life.”

It’s about control.

Witches of Eastwick (1987)

Here's a movie that always tops charts. Its led by its famed trio of witches (Cher, Pfeiffer, Sarandon). But Nicholson really steals the show as the devil.
