Israeli polling has consistently shown about 70% support for "end the war in exchange for all the hostages" for the last 15-18 months. The current outpouring of popular support for Trump there reflects this completely: people just wanted him to get Bibi to do what they've wanted for all this time.
The determinative intent of the war at every step, including accepting an end to it now, has been Bibi's political survival. That goal has often coincided with other stakeholders' goals, but there has never been any other intent that ultimately defined the Israeli government's actions.
What? Ending the war in exchange for releasing the hostages has been thwarted until now because Bibi didn't want to end the war. He agreed b/c Trump demanded it.
I think it'll still be in place so long as Trump wants it that way. Bibi has wanted the war to continue for his political benefit, but he's so beholden to Trump that maintaining Trump's goodwill is now his #1 need. His best hope for electoral positioning now, by far, is to get Trump's endorsement.
Hamas likely saw that as bluster, as there was no reason to think Bibi had been holding anything back since Trump greenlit re-starting the war back in March. Their calculus changed when Arab states (primarily Qatar) leaned on them hard after sensing Trump was finally serious about leaning on Bibi.
@mike10010100.com On the other hand, there are some who just aren't talking about it at all. Check Artists 4 Ceasfire's webpage to see their statement about the long-awaited ceasfire...well, there isn't one, they last updated it on Oct 3rd!
On a more bizarre and much dumber note, apparently this guy who was killed yesterday in internal strife was basically the Shaun King of Gaza (pocketed millions that he'd supposedly raised for a kids hospital):
Haven't they been going back and forth on this since the actual day of J6? Alternating between "it was great, they were all patriots" and "it was all an antifa false flag."
Also the version who saved Team USA in the clutch in the 2024 gold medal game, leading to A'ja responding to "describe her performance in one word" with a memorable two words.
