Most people are more concerned with how something appears, or makes them feel about themselves, rather than its actual impact or benefit.

But this is an exceedingly complicated topic, and therefore not great for social media. Risky. 😅

In my experience the problem is most people want to be seen as good. And if the right thing might make them appear to be mean or bad or whatever, they won’t do it even if they know it’s ultimately the right thing.

I would say that’s pretty black and white, and therefore only superficially true. A tendency to intentionally act good does not make you bad, nor diminish spontaneous acts of kindness, and vice versa.
