Oh, wow, just when I thought about checking what's going on here - so many new faces! Hi! Hello! I'm back for a bit, I hope. What's good to know about me? I'm horrible at social media and I write short fiction at a glacial pace. So far none of my stories feature a human point of view character.

My friend @herlizardness.bsky.social has been working on a very cool (and VERY CUTE) new project - check out what she's doing at sealsignal.org and give The Seal Signal a follow?

(spoilers: delightful seal stickers designed by human artists)
Ich fand auch, dass das verheißungsvoll klingt.
This is what the story should have been (and is, in my head).
I know this is a niche thing, but if you feel like entering a world of pinniped pups, nature art, and conservation action, take a look, support The Seal Signal with a follow on the platform of your choice, or simply choose more seals in your feed.
Our world is a dumpster fire of epic dimensions, and I needed something that made me believe in acts of empathy and change. Marine mammals and ocean conservation are just a way back to the roots for me.
I made a thing. Not my usual thing, but using similar skills - gathering information, structuring it, thinking up a good way to present it. Enter: The Seal Signal @sealsignal.bsky.social - a global guide to seal rescue and conservation.
I think the little hen was at my grandparents‘ at some point, too.
Oh no, you too? The first ones felt like a slap in the face, but my expectations are appropriately lowered now 😢
Oh no, no, nobody read your words, not even a fourth-grader who needs to write a school essay. Some chatbot just ate them and slurped up the last drops of water from a nice little puddle somewhere to vomit out what sounds like a response and sell fake handbags instead 🫠
Not relevant in the big slop heap, but can AI comments/emails fuck off? It used to be easy to recognize spam comments. Now I get messages that look like someone read my posts or stories, and I’m like: oooh, exciting, let’s re… wait, why does this sound like biting into old socks on stale toast?
Stylish hat, and he knows it.
Kompakt, shiny, get the job done.
Ja, danke auch, als ob’s nicht reicht, dass man bei den Milchersatzprodukten schon immer die feliniforme Erscheinung im Sack kaufen muss, weil nicht drauf stehen darf, was es ist.
It’s a shared fantasy world where the real issues are somehow absent, but we can haggle about the details of these dominant topics forever.
Thank you so much for reading & sharing! I’m glad you enjoyed the dive.
What a beautiful illustration! Thank you for that.

If you understand German oder French, one of the best cultural history things around at the moment is on Arte: Est-il vrai/Stimmt es, dass …? Often not what you expect and food for thought and interesting perspectives in every episode.

Thank you so much! I’m glad it didn’t turn out shallow with its short length.
