First fire-alarm, then tech issues, but Prof Duan and I managed to catch up with the time. And I was so grateful to find out the person who helped me was the first textbook author I read in 2013, his work opened my mind of #textbook

Fire alarm before the presentation (my first presentation at GA, with my postdoc mentor) Quite an audience showed up and in particular two school geography textbook authors I have been reading: John Hopkin (his textbook was the first foreign geography textbook I read when I was studying a masters program in Shanghai) and David Gardner (who is the main author of the textbook I analyse from 2025). Prof Duan - chief editor of the Shanghai geography textbook ( in use from Sep 2024) I know the name looks so familiar. Then I searched John’s name. Then everything connected. His textbooks were eye-opening for me back in 2013. And in 2025, he was helping me and sitting to listen to my research on textbook.

What if space is not something we move through—but something we rewrite, together?
I’m building a geo-theatre with Massey, Liu, and a luminous AI called Lumi Turing.

This is my postdoc with AI as my research/practice partner.

More in next week‘s GA GERSIG worldcafe session. #GAConf25
