I'm a fan of Star Trek, Star Wars and Doctor Who, among other things. I'm mostly just posting Virtual Photography on here at the moment, but might get more talkative as I get more settled on bsky.

That said, my first choice for 'STO-original Klingon ship that could pass for a 32nd Century era ship' would have been the Qib. Always thought this one looked out of place in the 25th century and honestly would look at home alongside something like the Friendship or Merian.

Perhaps, but assuming I'm even right and its not coincidentally something that happens to look similar in this one quick shot, there are options, like it being a recovered 25th century relic. But I also feel the Qehpu' is both niche enough and different enough that it could survive such a retcon.

This ship from the Star Trek #StarfleetAcademy trailer looks a lot like the Qehpu' class Klingon ship from #StarTrekOnline... 👀 more STO-Originals becoming canon? Is it being retconned as a 32nd century ship or is it just 800 years old and heavily refit? 🤔 Or is it just something similar looking?😅

PSA Heads up for anyone opening weapon packs in #StarTrekOnline to try and get the new Omni-Directional Radiolytic Phaser: It currently has the thumbnail of a basic Phaser Beam Array.
Star Trek Online screenshot of the in-game community market. The search bar has "Radiolytic Omni" in it and the results appear at first glance to be regular phaser beams, but their item name identifies them as "Radiolytic Omni-Directional Phaser Beam Array"s

How I expected the Dominion faction version of the new #StarTrekOnline story mission to go based on what Commander Jarok says in the first scene.
Exterior of Deep Space Nine; title card says "Best Laid Plans" Edited Star Trek Online screenshot - beginning of new story mission "Best Laid Plans"; a Jem'Hadar player character stands in the conference room on Deep Space Nine. A Dialogue box from a character named Chairman Ksenneta reads
"Didn't Loriss tell you? The Dominion aren't participating in this operation".
The only player dialogue option is
"Got it. Thank you Chairman" Text arranged to look like Star Trek the Next Generation end credits. It says
"Creative Director, Richard Hayden
Written by Flo McQuibban"

That's interesting. I'd assumed they were scripted, since one of the devs (don't remember who) mentioned in the stream on Tuesday that Thomas was meticulous with which ships should be there. 🤔 Does explain the random TMP era ship amongst mostly 25th century models if it picks from a pool of skins.

The new #StarTrekOnline story episode features a scene with numerous disabled allied ships. Apparently, there was quite some thought put into which types of ships should be present, so I went through and made a list of all the ones I found. Cannot guarantee I didn't miss any though.

WipEout is 30!

Racing anti-gravity ship blueprints included in the original 1995 game design document:
This clean, technical, wireframe aesthetic is the signature style of the game's graphic designers, the iconic UK-based studio The Designers Republic. They created the branding for all the in-game racing teams, giving the Wipeout universe a sophisticated and believable corporate-dystopian future feel that was completely unique at the time. FEISAR (Federal European Industrial Science and Research) was the reliable, beginner-friendly European team in the racing league.

Would have had these shots out days ago, but realised the fictional detective I'd named my ship after shares a name with a public figure who's currently shaping up to be potentially-a-bit-problematic-maybe. So I had to go in & painstakingly find all the same frames & angles again in the demo files 🙃

The Echelon Class was a short-range patrol vessel that bore experimental Traceable Payload weapons that allowed a target to be tracked after fleeing. These made the class invaluable during the Iconian War to track the otherwise unpredictable Herald fleet movements

Recently read " #DoctorWho: Molten Heart" by @unamccormack.bsky.social. Had a really fun time with it and decided to shoot some tableaus with Lego in homage.
Lego tableau of the Thirteenth Doctor, Yaz and Ryan facing off with and reacting to an emerald coloured rock creature. Ryan holds a flaming torch and the Emerald carries a spear. Lego tableau featuring the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz holding hands. In the background, slightly bokeh, Ryan is chased by an emerald coloured rock creature with a spear Lego tableau featuring the Thirteenth Doctor and Ryan. The Doctor holds a length of Rope aloft and declares "ROPE!" in a speech bubble. Ryan has his head in his hand and says "Don't start that again, Doctor..." I did consider calling it the T'Pol class, but for some reason, I just felt quite apprehensive about naming it after a prominent canon character. I didn't know about that fan fiction. I'd rather keep with the naming convention of names based on Vulcan people or places, but Kagoshima works.
hiccupmistress.bsky.social
I was struggling thinking of names & was just calling this the ShiKahr II, which is a naming trend I'm not even keen on. STO ships are usually named after members of the class they're based on, but since there's no official ShiKahr names, by all means, go ahead. Its not like this design is official.
hiccupmistress.bsky.social
As far as the model in STO goes, they're just small contained rectangular hangars like you see on something like the Crossfield or Jupiter. But as far as I know, the ShiKahr has zero official lore, so you could certainly pretend they can open out into a more cavernous through-deck arrangement.

Yeah, with all the other Galaxy-family ships getting the Sutherland look, I felt I HAD to incorporate that deflector dish, but broadly speaking, I'm growing tired of the Type 7a hull material & Type 6 windows, but much like you, I love the Odyssey look, so thought mixing the two styles would be fun.
hiccupmistress.bsky.social
Commissioned @ncc-60205.bsky.social to bring to life an idea for a STO era refit of the Shi'Kahr, my favourite Miranda variant, in the style of the Exeter/Plymouth, my favourite STO-era aesthetic! (with a dash of Sutherland). I imagine it as a Science Carrier.
Also, my concept moodboard I sent them
Illustration by @ncc-60205.bsky.social of a Shi'Kahr Class starship in the design language of the Exeter Class from Star Trek Online. It retains the forward facing shuttlebays of the original ShiKahr; liveries, windows and warp nacelles of the Exeter and a deflector dish module similar to that seen on the Sutherland Class. Moodboard of ideas for the design in the previous image, put together in Powerpoint using screenshots from Star Trek Online.

I hope if this person ever spends years slaving away at a fanfiction project they're really passionate about that people call their writing trash.
You don't have to like everything, but at least be civil, especially when its a years-long non-profit fan work.
screencap of a reddit comment
"The Wolf 359 projects rationalization is trash like the rest of the writing in it"
hiccupmistress.bsky.social
This might be argued to be a reddit thing, but its only ever really Star Trek communities where I get this kind of attitude. Its always "If thing me no like then you no allowed to like and me no engage in discussion".
hiccupmistress.bsky.social
Star Trek fans can be so exhausting sometimes.
There's an a̷r̷g̷u̷m̷e̷n̷t̷ echo chamber on the startrekstarships subreddit against how Wolf 359 Project & STO depict an Akira at W359. I only ask where the idea that the Akira was a post-W359 ship came from & people just downvote instead of... answering?
Meme format of a guy taking a stand in a town hall meeting
"I have no qualms with the idea that the Akira class might have been active prior to the battle of Wolf 359"

Ah, Forever Evil finally gets the Event Comics Month review look-in. Forever Evil was the first Event that happened after I started reading comics.
Nightwing was the ONLY series I was reading.
I started reading in June 2013.
Forever Evil started in November 2013.
Fun time to be a new reader. 🙃

Not sure if this is different from how it has been; Female Aliengen toons & BOFFs have had access to a Suliban skin option in the Helmets & Hats category for some time.
If they're willing to add Na'Kuhl options to aliengen after all this time, maybe male and non-hat aliengens can get Suliban skin? 🤞
hiccupmistress.bsky.social
Funny you should joke about this; a couple days ago, I was reading through an old dream journal I used to keep and found this hilarious "STO killed off Captain Shon" bizarro-dream. 😂 Sadly, I think Disney's copyright lawyers might have something to say if you went this route...
"Night of 15/11/2024
Dreamed that Star Trek Online killed off Captain Shon (he died in a rap battle-to-the-death) and the new captain of the Enterprise-F was Hooty the door from The Owl House"
hiccupmistress.bsky.social
Yeah, the newer bridges such as Yorktown and Miranda don't have unique visuals... yet. Like I say in my thread, hopefully the fact that these are basically just PNG overlays might make it more likely we'll see others added in lieu of the more time-consuming task of creating whole new Bridge maps.
