Right, going back to my newspaper. In the meantime, if there are any Americans reading - aren't the states supposed to be organising well regulated militias to oppose the tyranny of government about now? Keep us posted.

I'm not a Christian myself, but I respect Christians who stand up for their beliefs. I don't have to exercise that respect often, but this guy qualifies.

One thing a physical newspaper is not good at is being easy to read while you have a snack. I've fallen back on the screen for this.

Oh for a vainly fancied treasure
Pursued beyond all measure
And by its own excess transformed to pain.

First thing about buying the Guardian in paper form - I gave the food section to my wife (not in a sexist way) who identified a new ingredient to try. So that was a quick win.

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan a stately pleasure dome decree. And his family did very well out of the contracts.

But I’m hoping it will be a great experience and a reminder that stuff off of screens can often be the best option.

A few days after the Twin Towers I happened to change planes at Chicago. I was astounded to see British troops on guard duty there. I suppose it was the result of the disruption to that happened at the time, but even so it seemed really abnormal. Having a foreign airbase in the US - that's weird!

The Donald Trump story has all the elements of a flawed heroic drama. Apart from the heroism and the drama.

Social media has led to arguments and polarisation of such magnitude that this is threatening social unrest which could be a pretext for the establishment of an authoritarian state with unprecedented levels of surveillance. But you are such a lovable bunch of scamps. I can’t stay angry with you all.

God has just promised me the land of Israel. This is a bit of a recent development - but you know what He’s like, mysterious ways and all that. I’ll be over to take control when I’ve got some emails out of the way.
