Schmetzer on de la Vega: “He deserves to be playing when he’s healthy and fit. True, there’s competition. It’s pro sports, I get it. But I mean, kid deserves to play”
Brian Schmetzer delivered a strong, positive stance on Pedro de la Vega after the NYCFC game. Like every supporter, Schmetzer will really hope that Pedro’s knee injury won’t be too serious.
(2) Schmetzer: “I just don’t have any additional information until we actually get our doctors to take a look at him”
(1) Schmetzer: “He’s okay to travel (back home with the team), which is positive, and then we’ll get him an MRI and we’ll figure out exactly what it is, what we’re dealing with. But, I can’t hide the fact that it wasn’t a good injury…”
Schmetzer was able to provide some minor updates to Pedro de la Vega’s concerning knee injury, but not much is yet known until he is evaluated back in Seattle.

Schmetzer will very likely provide an update after the game. If this injury is as serious as it looked, this is among the worst possible injury scenarios to happen for the Sounders on Decision Day.
