In case nobody had told you yet:

If you have nobody looking after you, look after yourself.

You’re worth it.

This World Mental Health Day and every day.

So what does it take for the decision makers to change the social welfare system

Tears once felt like weakness to me.

Now they’re proof I’m alive.

Strength isn’t the absence of breaking — it’s choosing to keep going even when you break.

As of recently, I feel like someone who clutched a sand clock in an attempt to make it slow down but ended up breaking it. And now, instead of steady trickling, the sand runs through my fingers like a waterfall. I can’t reverse it, can’t stop it, can’t slow it down.

The truth isn’t as scary as denial. Denial makes you fight two battles...suppressing what scares you...and....fueling endless fears in your head at the same time.. Face reality...and you stop wasting energy on illusions. You start planning. And that’s when fear turns into strength.

By the time I had become pregnant with my third kid, my mental health had deteriorated so much that I couldn’t be happy about it.

I feared for my unborn’s wellbeing if I didn’t take care of myself.

I was denied help because I ‘presented myself too well’.

A lonely sentinel against the sky so vast.
Watches the waves in a moment to last.
The sun will rise orange and rose.
As the ocean breathes and morning grows.
Just before sunrise at St. Marys Lighthouse in the UK.

Who needs to hear this:

You’re not your case number.

You’re a human out of flesh and blood, thoughts and emotions, and your existence in this world is great enough a reason to support you.

It can be incredibly hard to see your progress when recovering from depression or burnout. The whole world keeps demanding certain benchmarks of you to the point that it’s easy to feel like a failure despite your hard work. Remember your progress is your own journey. Every win means something.

And then people without kids wonder why people with kids are always tired, exhausted and don’t show up to whichever kind of meeting or social gathering.

Also I wish we wouldn’t have to fight our way through life. At least not all the time.

And that we’re not being mocked when extracting ourselves from the battlefield.

We’re not fleeing the fight.

We’re running towards life.

“Rest is preparation for the next battle.” Yeah…tell a family caregiver who’s fighting several fights simultaneously all the time with no training, rest or preparation while literally keeping another human alive and well without medical expertise.

Being on social welfare isn’t fill in a form and cash out.

It’s a job on its own.

One that strips you off the time and energy to rebuild your life and has you living in perpetual anxiety.

But try to get mental health support and you’re told you’re not depressed enough to be treated.

When a president sends troops into American cities to “restore order,” what he’s really doing is testing obedience. Portland and Chicago aren’t war zones…they’re warning shots. Authoritarians don’t announce takeovers. They practice them. One city at a time. However, each practice destroys families.

You can't be "brave" when there is no threat to you.

NOW...is the opportunity for Americans to demonstrate courage/bravery. Are there risks for the average American...now? Absolutely. But....that's how bravery has always been demonstrated throughout history. It's the only realm where it can be.

As the leaves fall, so do the layers of masquerade that I had put on myself for decades for the sake of pleasing other people.

I’m striving to become bare, naked, my one true self.

“Pretty lazy day today, huh?”

“Mhm. I’ve got a fever, aching muscles all over, can barely speak but I cooked, baked, did laundry, took the kids to the playground and do all of my daily content creation work. Yeah, pretty lazy day.”

“Come on, honey!”

This is no exception. This is ubiquitous.
