This picture doesn't even come close to doing justice as to the sheer number of bunnies on this pitch n' putt course. How many of these guys get hit by golf balls?
I wonder if there are any cities in all of North America that don't have the worst drivers anywhere. Everyone seems to think they're surrounded by uniquely bad drivers.
You're essentially arguing that gas stations don't exist because they also sell snacks, or that the local U-Store isn't a storage facility because local bands rent some of the units as practice spaces. Without the speculative AI boom, there would be a small fraction of them being built.
I just realized that you're making an argument that has absolutely nothing to do with technical knowledge, and framing it otherwise to make the most stupidly pedantic point otherwise. There's a massive surge in the building of data centres that would not be happening at all without investment in AI.
Buddy, I've been writing code since the early 90s. I'm almost certain you meant to say "applications", then decided to Google "computing appliances" in the hope it would help you save face, because that absolutely does not describe something that requires non-AI portions of datacentres.
If I could extend the life of one Palestinian by one second by making all of AI suffer for all of eternity, I would do it. Fuck your compassion for the computer, it is an affront to all of humanity.
This is not a real discussion. Unless we've eliminated poverty and hunger for every real human on the entire planet, I don't give a fuck about your Sims, even if a genie made them "real people".
This is what happens when computer scientists decide they know more about the human brain than biologists and neurologists, and also get billions from capitalist ghouls.
Hey! Maybe we can turn Gaza into one giant sacred datacenter that we're all obligated to be nice to lest we hurt it's feelings!
There is not one single part of how they are "grown" that even remotely approximates the parts of our brain that regulate the feelings related to pain or emotions, only, perhaps, the sorting of data.
It doesn't even matter whether they *could* or not. Maybe they could! But if you have even a basic understanding of what AI is you'd know that clearly that's not what's happening!
I know they can't. AI can't feel. It's just a machine that cuts and pastes things people have said in the past together. It's fancier version of predictive text. Please don't be so gullible.
This is just as stupid as thinking it's bad to be against concentration camps because being against things is a negative emotion, and also it might hurt the camp's feelings.
AI isn't alive. It doesn't have emotions. It is a product being sold to you by fascists.
