I have also felt this way. Sometimes we just aren’t ready to get into the deep deep. Other times, it’s the wrong therapist. Therapy isn’t required, for sure. But when you feel stuck, and you know you’re being self destructive or sabotage-y, it can make all the difference. In my experience.

I need someone who will call out my bullshit, and also provide me with tools to use for all manner of things. For me, therapy is essential and I’m very fortunate to be working with someone who can keep up with my thinking and listens for what I need, affirming what works and discouraging what doesnt

Therapy has helped me recognize my own agency, taught me to listen to my body, reminded me of coping mechs that work (and don’t), encouraged me to keep going, applauded my efforts and commiserated with my fails. It’s the educated friend you need who listens and gets paid too.

Shoot, I left the Facebook platform quite a while ago… I’m not sure it’s worth engaging people online to convince them of another perspective. I think face to face is better. It’s almost impossible to cut through the far-right lenses and get to a common ground through social media text.

We just need to secede. The federal Supreme Court is not on the side of state government nor on the side of the people. We need to get out while we still can. Please tell us you’re looking into that. If the US democracy falls, the world will become infinitely more dangerous for everyone.

I agree wholeheartedly. And I also believe that there’s always an opportunity to older wiser people to intervene and correct students when appropriate to include “do no harm” and “don’t be an asshole” among other more obvious -isms that creep into passionate protests. And we need to want to unite.
