This qualitative study identified four themes to demonstrate the proximal processes enacted in the cybersytem (i.e., digital spaces) and their effects on individuals’ resilience to minority stress.

Coming out is a personal choice that shouldn’t feel pressured. Digital spaces can offer queer and trans youth connection, learning, and resilience to make coming out feel safer.

Participants in our video gaming study, LEVEL UP! 🎮, taught us that representation matters. Too often, bisexuality is framed as a “phase." In The Last of Us 2, Dina is a thoughtful exception to this trend.

In response, Dr. Craig believes that "the key is [that] we're sort of learning together" and it is more important, now than ever, to be as transparent as possible and ensure that participants remain in the loop throughout the research process.

The panelists discuss the importance of trust, noting that both SGMY participants and community partners have understandably shown more hesitancy in participating in research because of fears of being misrepresented and data usage amidst our current climate.
