Amanita muscaria or fly agaric is often referred to as the lucky mushroom. In Germany, it is literally called a lucky mushroom or Glückspilz. The mushroom in nature is highly poisoned but so rare to be found that it became a good luck omen. The Amanita muscaria mushroom is easy to identify with its white toadstool and bright red and white cap. It's toxic - dangerously poisonous and should never be consumed. It is best left to be enjoyed and respected for its beauty and symbol to bring good luck into the new year.
