I am rather pleased to discover Hellebore is still a thing. I had several of the earlier issues but they got lost in the shuffle when I moved. The design and aesthetic looks as great as ever.

Back in ye olde tymes I don't think you would have such a concentration of people all vying for someone's attention. I've had friends show me their requests/inboxes and it's a very sobering insight into what women using the apps deal with.

Genuinely amazed that they utilised AI, deliberating over several different messages, and came up with 'Hey Sarah, it was lovely to meet you'. Outstanding work.

God that article is soul crushingly depressing. As if being on The Apps wasn't bad enough already now there's another layer to the anxiety lasagne.

Stick a Dead Kennedys patch on it and you'll be fine.

TRON [1982]
Not only the visual and SFX were way ahead of its time, but legends of art & illustration worked on it. Here some concept art from Syd Mead and Moebius and some behind the scene photos of Jeff Bridges & Cindy Morgan in costume.

Teaser for the new Tim Burton film dropped I see.

Me and my friends saw trailers for Tron Ares in the cinema several times. We all came to the conclusion that the only appealing thing about it was a new NIN album.

Expect it wasn't great for H from Steps either given he had the same name.

Maisie looked so mad on this week's Taskmaster I thought she might spontaneously combust in her chair.

Polanski expertly dismantling the "rich people will move if we tax them" narrative, while Denham nimbly demonstrates how very patriotic such people are.

Former Head of Comms for the IEA, Annabel Denham, says the super rich will leave if we have a wealth tax.

Yes, the very same IEA that brought us Liz Truss’ disastrous mini budget. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Green Party leader Zack Polanski explains that their taxable assets can’t leave. #bbcqt

This whole beautiful comic is *chef’s kiss* and this is my favorite bit.
Piece of larger comic on AI art that says “Someone once told me that art is like emotional nutrition.
That made sense to me.
Art feeds my feelings.
And if that's the case, consuming Al art is like eating styrofoam.”

Considering this I'm a bit surprised there aren't really late night cafés, there aren't any where I am that I'm aware of. Considering most close early evening there wouldn't be much competition it seems.

Pubs, more than anything, are a social hub. As someone that doesn't drink my experience tells me that some pubs are great at accommodating those that don't drink, others not so much. People will go where they feel welcome, which is affordable and convenient and that might not be a pub.

I notice the potential for harm is a big factor for girls not going out drinking, unsurprisingly. So really this just shows pubs, etc, opening longer won't really achieve much.

Interesting that he points out how reported figures for what they got paid are wrong, but doesn't say what he got paid. If you're going to take a bag of cash from a regime at least be honest about it.
itsalladeepend.bsky.social
Don't really see how this benefits pubs, etc, if people aren't going to them because they can't afford to then it doesn't matter whether the pub shuts at midnight or 3 in the morning.

In the Mouth of Madness really is up there with John Carpenter's best films. Manages to be both a meta commentary on horror, especially H.P Lovecraft and Stephen King, but also a very good eldritch horror film. Sam Neil in arguably his best role. Everything just works brilliantly.
