Lizard of the day: Sungazer!
They owe their name to their peculiar pose when basking in the sun! Their scientific name, Smaug Giganteus, was taken from the legendary dragon from TLotR! They're South African, dig their own burrows and are ovoviviparous!

Lizard of the day: Augrabies flat lizard!
A South African species! A downside I've never mentioned about male lizards having these flashy, shiny colorations is that they make them pretty much easier to spot for avians on the hunt. It's risky to look this good!

A MASSIVE lizard species, being the largest living lizards on the planet! They're carrion eating, but they sometimes hunt their own prey. Despite their size, they're highly mobile, as they can run pretty fast, swim, and even climb trees.

A beautiful Australian species! They have black stripes throughout their body. Males acquire a green-blue coloration in breeding season. They're pretty shy in wild state, but they can quickly adapt to humans in parks or gardens!

A beautiful species from from the Cayman Islands! They're herbivorous just like most other iguanas. It's one of the longest-living lizards, being able to reach up to 69 (nice) years of age! They're endangered due to introduced species.

These medium-sized lizards dig tunnels after rain! During the day, they hunt insects and are rarely seen. They move rapidly through the ground and at any sign of danger dart into their burrow, usually positioned under a bush!

A tiny, elusive species that usually hide beneath leaf litter near swamps! They're excellent swimmers for their small size and feed on different kinds of bugs and grubs!

Lizard of the day: Balkan wall lizard! These guys are endemic to several Balkan and Slavic countries! They're bright green during spring, fading to olive-brown in summer! They're usually found in vegetated areas. Females can lay up to 10 eggs per clutch!

These mutant bipedal creatures roam the Mojave Wasteland in groups! Depending on their type, they can breathe fire, have beautiful golden skin or have more resistant bodies. Their skin and meat are highly sought after as materials!

A stunning New Caledonian species, they're the smallest of their type! They're popular in pet trade because of the eye-catching color combinations these guys can have, mixing grey, brown, red and orange!

The edgelords of all gecko species! They're endemic to Madagascar, owing their peculiar name to their dark coloration and red eyes. They're experts at avoiding predators thanks to their incredible mimicry and other behaviors.

Lizard of the day: Kuhl's flying gecko!
A Southeast Asian species, these guys can glide thanks to the flaps in their bodies! They have an uniquely shaped flat tail and webbed paws that help them with the task, too!

They're endemic to Colombia and Ecuador. Males of this species have a funny circular crest on their heads! Like other basilisks, they can run on water for quite some time before sinking!

A beautiful golden-colored lizard species! They're mostly found near desert plants, often hiding underneath them. Interestingly, they form families, a trait rarely seen in lizards. They are also viviparous.

A species from Madagascar that biologists have trouble naming because they don't know whether to call it an iguana, a skink, or a plain lizard. They're both carnivorous and insectivorous. They mostly hang out on trees and are diurnal!

A large monitor species endemic to the Philippines! They're endangered due to deforestation caused by logging, as they are an arboreal species that mainly eat fruits. They're pretty shy and reclusive.

A lil island lizard species! They're opportunistic feeders, feeding on bugs, plant nectar and even processed food or their own eggs. They're predominantly ground-dwelling, but they're great climbers too!
