Thank you! I was wildly impressed not just with the speed but the fact the photo isn’t a giant blur. (Choreography is where I go to really challenge myself 🤣)

For a live performance shot, I was amazed the photographer was able to capture this exact moment. I'm not gonna lie, the choreography is quite fast at this part (this was like, 1 beat of a 4 count where each beat was a different movement) so I was impressed! I love this pose. Interestingly, the vast majority of photographers I work with often have their own space or home studio, backyard, etc. I made the suggestion file mainly for visiting photographers who have no clue about locations but want to shoot while in town, and the file was successful for that.

Thank you very much for your perspective! One of the biggest reasons this upset me is because I’m trying to offer something unique and suddenly that felt threatened. Knowledge is free, but the careful curation of specialized knowledge isn’t; it cost me experience and time.

Thank you for your thoughtful and kind response! 🙏 I know this isn’t the case, but I’ve always felt like I didn’t want to “punish” everyone for the misdeeds of the few by asking for deposits but I am reminded again of Dr. Seuss: those who mind don’t matter, those who matter don’t mind. 🌠

The confirmation of a date is another piece of advice I will incorporate in the future to better protect not just locations but ideas and other concepts I have in mind, thanks for that. I’ve had mixed feelings about asking for deposits, but another interesting point I’ll consider.

Solid advice! He had asked me for both indoor & outdoor spots which is ultimately why I shared the file, but still. Lesson learned. I also thought about adding an addendum to my file asking people not to share or something after this experience but that still requires good faith on their part.

It’s not the models’ fault, let me be clear, I’m not blaming other models for getting booked in my area – I’m beyond mad that I’m a local model, who handed a local photographer local resources to shoot and he’s paying traveling models to shoot in locations he only knows because of *me* 🙃🙃🙃

I just found out that he has been using my file to book shoots with traveling models!!! People who don’t even live in my city are benefitting from the years of work I’ve done to make a living as a model in my area. I’m gutted. PSA for photographers, that behavior is highly unethical!

A local photographer, who is not on bsky and the only reason I’m sharing this, has been wanting to schedule a shoot with me for months and asked about locations but drops off any time I talk to him about dates. I shared my doc to help us book a shoot together, because he needed recommendations.

So I have a resource I hand photographers when they want to shoot with me but need a location in my area. It’s a file that includes studios, Airbnbs, natural areas & parks (and specific spots I recommend). I need to stress this is years of work to make this file with worthy recommendations!
