It was brilliant to join the Mayor and hundreds of fans to celebrate Ipswich Witches' first British Speedway title in 27 years.

It means so much to our town - even the rain couldn't put a dampener on things.

Back up at Foxhall tonight for the bangers and fireworks 🚗🎆
'It's special for the town': Fans gather to celebrate Ipswich Witches' title

We had a great Ipswich Labour team out speaking to residents in Westgate this morning.

Thank you to everyone who joined local councillors, Colin Kreidewolf and Julian Gibbs, and I, and thank you to all the people who took the time to speak to us.

Much appreciated.
It's really encouraging to see Labour's Mayoral candidate, Carli Harper, give her full backing to the Ipswich Northern Bypass.

After years of the Conservative Suffolk County Council's 'do nothing' approach, this crucial piece of infrastructure has to finally move forward.

I fired the starting gun on Ipswich's culture bid today because I am ambitious for our town.

Speaking to Wayne Bavin on BBC Radio Suffolk, I said this celebration of Ipswich's talent will attract people to our town, who will then spend money in our shops, restaurants and pubs, boosting our economy.
A City of Culture bid is not just about art and performance.

It is about saying, loudly and proudly, that Ipswich deserves to be recognised, invested in, and celebrated on the national stage.

OPINION: Why I'm all fired up to launch Ipswich's City of Culture bid
Jack Abbott says he is ready to fire the starting gun on getting Ipswich to make a bid for UK City of Culture 2029.

A City of Culture bid will attract more visitors, investment and new jobs, while supporting and celebrating the local artists, venues and organisations that make our town special.

We have so much talent. This competition gives us the chance to show that to the whole country.

We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to show the country what Ipswich is made of.

I am proud of Ipswich, and that is why I am firing the starting gun on our City of Culture bid.

Join me and help build a new future for our town!
Great to be out talking to people in SE Ipswich this morning with our Ipswich Labour team.

It was really heartening to meet the residents in Ravenswood who love their new homes, describing them as warm, safe and quiet.

Well done Ipswich Borough Council for delivering this important development.
I'm intent on delivering good jobs for Ipswich and Suffolk, and I want our young people to fill them.

That means we must provide the training and skills they need to get there.

From creating new Technical Colleges to reforming apprenticeships, we'll do just that.

We can't talk about ambition without providing the opportunities and pathways to match.

I want talented and dedicated people in Ipswich to access skilled, secure, well-paid employment.

As I've shown with 500 jobs from Sizewell C, that's what I'll deliver.

My EADT/Ipswich Star column 👇
OPINION: Skilled, secure, well-paid jobs are Ipswich's future
The energy transition is the defining economic opportunity of this century, as well as an environmental necessity, Ipswich MP Jack Abbott said.

If you are a nursery in Ipswich and have available spaces, please let me know so we can ensure families can access the childcare they need.

If you are an affected parent who needs support, please get in touch: [email protected]
I know the imminent closure of Bright Horizons Quayside Day Nursery and Preschool has caused a great deal of distress to parents and children in Ipswich.

Thank you to Clifford Road Primary School and Nursery for stepping up so quickly to offer support after our discussions.

I was delighted to visit Morland CofE Primary School's brand-new SEND unit recently.

'Wren's class' will provide dedicated support for up to 18 pupils, giving them the education they deserve.

Huge thanks to the Headteacher, John Crane, and the team for creating this life-changing provision.
There are no short-cuts or quick fixes to getting Ipswich to where we all want it to be, just hard work.

Piece by piece, win by win, we are rebuilding our town.

There is still lots to do, but we should be proud of the progress we have made.

OPINION: Hard work means we are rebuilding Ipswich, piece by piece
Ipswich MP Jack Abbott has penned a column on the return of MPs after conference season.

After years of brutal Conservative cuts to children's centres, this Labour Government is investing in the futures of children and families.

I spoke to BBC Suffolk about the funding our county has received to open a Best Start Family Hub, so we can start to rebuild this life-changing service.
I was delighted to join the Lord-Lieutenant of Suffolk, Clare, Countess of Euston for the official opening of the new Ipswich ambulance hub.

Backed by £10 million of Government funding, this is an impressive state-of-the-art facility which will deliver better healthcare for local people.
I'm absolutely delighted that new Government funding will mean that Christchurch Mansion - the iconic building at the heart of our town - can return to full open hours.

Supporting our museums is not just about preserving our past, it is about investing in our future too.
👏 A well deserved TMIICA Lifetime Achievement award for Ipswich's Manik Miah.

Not only has Manik ran the Maharani for over three decades, he is also a tireless champion for so many people and organisations in our town.

Huge congratulations my friend.

Today Greater Anglia has transferred into public ownership and the Transport Secretary, Heidi Alexander, visited East Anglia to mark this new chapter.

Our Government wants passengers to be at the heart of our railways again, saving taxpayers millions of pounds in fees, and ensuring value for money.
💎 More good news for Ipswich.

After the successful entry of Jamaica Blue onto our high street, Lovisa, a global jewellery brand, will be joining them in the old Grimwades building.

Great work by Ipswich Borough Council as we continue to revive our town centre and restore pride.
People are rightly concerned with the threat of criminality on our high streets.

'Operation Machinize' is targeting illicit practices and illegal goods, with a number of raids taking place across Ipswich.

The hard work of the police and other agencies is starting to pay off.
