Iris has heterochromia, not by choice. Their right eye is their own but the color is clouded in shadow. The left is the eye of Cruciatus, the devil who captured them into Cania for 13 years. His obsession with them drove his madness to give Iris one of his eyes ♥️

I like to believe the moment it clicked for Astarion that he felt something more for Iris was the night after the urges. Iris was willing to put themselves through immense pain and anguish just to protect him. Though he was ready to defend himself if needed, he'd hope it wouldn't come to that

Astarion felt intrigued by Iris when they rejected his advanced early on. Then continued interest at the complicated paladin, who showcased actions both of the nature and not. He truly fell for Iris when they continued to protect/advocate for him as they did for others. An equal at last
