When sustainable finance expert Jonathan Arnold switched to a heat pump, he tracked the numbers. Here's how much $$ it saved his family:

Heat pumps are a cost-effective technology that can save people money on energy bills and reduce emissions from buildings. But the end of government incentives makes the transition to heat pumps harder for households. ⬇️

Strong thread on takeaways from climate week NYC!
drkatemarvel.bsky.social
my takeaway from climate week nyc is that "climate storytelling" is a little too much "we must reimagine our deepest souls in relationship to mother nature and the moral abyss of the polycrisis into which we must now stare" and not enough "ok but get a heat pump"

Ice packs are so smart! I'm going to remember that one.

What are your tricks to stay cool in a heatwave? What helps me:

- cold showers, or running cold water over my wrists for 30 sec

- if I can't get to a/c, I find anywhere with shade and a fan or a breeze

- I don't push myself with physical activity. Slow & steady and lots of breaks

It's going to be VERY hot and humid next week in Eastern Canada 🔥 Extreme heat made worse by climate change is a deadly threat. Don't forget that there could be a delay between temps dropping outside at night and the real temperature indoors — especially in older buildings. Stay safe!
