A good write up about a key figure in UK urban and economic development - my friend’s father and someone who I was lucky enough to collaborate with on occasion too…

I’m sure it was no sweat
What about the Old Trafford waterfall?

Another where ‘personal terms won’t be a problem’. I know you said on @podonthetyne.bsky.social that it’s just how things done now @georgecaulkin.bsky.social but with run around #nufc have had surely it was better when people agreed fees with clubs before bothering to waste time with player & agent?
Ditto for GCSEs. College here we come 👍
Just been called the ‘Jan Gehl of the North’ in a meeting.
Completely embarrassed but of course secretly totally chuffed
A-level results day and we have a happy (maybe relieved!) household. Hope everyone out there got what they needed
Is it a failure of public realm strategy or execution?
So after a spell visiting various cities in northern Spain I’m left asking eternal question ‘why can’t we just do that?’…
Generous well maintained public space
Seating & public toilets
Play in every public square
Underground car parks
Public lifts & escalators
Street cafes not all about booze
Never sure anyone is out there on Bluesky but checking your profile I see you are keeping the content up @samuelstafford.bsky.social 👍
Just to say I’m enjoying new town episode & (no slight on 50 shades) I yearn for a more formal northern forum where these things can be discussed & influence policy
Regardless of where people stand on Mitchell’s impact isn’t it poor for a key individual to be able to quit with a months notice & especially at such a pivotal time of year? Surely should be tied in to ensure things are managed on club’s terms. Feels like he exploited it to maximum effect too #nufc
I’ve been lucky enough to play a part in some of it and worked in and around it to witness the changes. It felt slow progress at times (as regeneration can) but in reality has been a dramatic transformation
A CD revival in our house led me to rediscover my MA design project on New Islington/Ancoats (while studying in London). The illustrations not quite up to current standards but I’m sure the thinking was sound!
Basically all of this area has been redeveloped in the intervening years
In a cafe and noticing a bit of an Isak resemblance here.
Never too much? #nufc
Interesting canter though new Manchester. Huge changes in c25yrs I’ve lived here. Lots for good & some not. Comparison daft - feels more like London I left 20yrs ago but that’s somewhere else now too. Cities change & reflect wider economy/society. None of its working for everyone anywhere is it..?
Red Riding trilogy on Netflix. Powerful performances and captures a grim world brilliantly.
From this to Spiderman for Andrew Garfield - where did it all go wrong?!
