It’s interesting that they didn’t show off any of the superhero elements here. If you didn’t know anything about this series beforehand you would think it’s just a show about Hollywood ala The Studio to The Franchise.

Also Mateo is Filipino! Another part of what made me love this short so much! The characters here bond with mangos which hit me hard as someone who used to eat mangos with every meal back in the Philippines.

Tonight I wounded up watching the animated short film Blush on Apple TV and it was so great. It’s inspiring by director Joe Mateo’s real life. His story of meeting his wife Mary Ann, having children together, and the loss of his Mary Ann to breast cancer. It’s really moving.

I think James Gunn needs to stop writing tv shows whilst he’s making movies. I think both Creature Commandos & Peacemaker S2 suffered from him doing Superman along with it and that movie had to be his #1 priority.

The sequel trimming its writers from 5 to 2 and Jared Hess now being one of them is encouraging. The first movie was at its worst when it veered into generic brainroot so I’m hoping Hess being a writer means they’ll lean even more into his comedic style.

It’s so laughable to me that James Gunn was hyping up massive DC cameos in episodes 6-8 of Peacemaker season 2 when in reality the only major cameo he really had was Lex Luthor.

The season finale of Peacemaker barely felt like a finale. Nothing happened for most of it and what did was just set up for other stuff. I had hoped Gunn would be a little better on not falling on these kinds of superhero show pitfalls
