Excited to announce my new course on Dometrain - Solution Architecture Deep Dive.

The #1 feedback I got on the first course was the depth. Don't worry, this ones goes deeper. Deeper into what it actually means to be an architect in 2025.

Roger that 🫡 I'll follow the repo.

Oh nice, that sounds very cool. Do you have a link?
jameseastham.co.uk
No worries, I appreciate your question 👍 when I announced the course on LinkedIn I mentioned it's a follow on. Damn character limits on Bluesky 😂
jameseastham.co.uk
Yeah, I completely agree. Most of the content in the getting started course is around requirements gathering, understanding the business, the domain, the problem etc. I had a lot of feedback on the getting started course that peopple wanted the 'next step'. Which is where this course came from :)

Level up from dev → architect?

Check out James’s latest Dometrain course: modular monoliths, events, C4, observability, ADRs.

Even if you’re not into .NET, you'll get tons of value from it! 🚀

Oooo, hadn't heard of Qobuz. Thanks Ryan 👌👌

Ok, nice. Is that still the case now? I seem to remember reading that a big company had bought Bandcamp?
jameseastham.co.uk
So Bluesky friends, where would you go to buy high quality albums/music nowadays? As a long time Spotify user (just cancelled) I'm kinda lost as to where to start. iTunes would have been my go to. And I've heard a bunch about Bandcamp.

CLAUDE: You can validate and test your dependabot config locally by installing dependabot cli "gh extension install github/gh-dependabot"

ME: "Could not find extension 'github/gh-dependabot' on host github.com"

CLAUDE: My apologies - that extension doesn't exist. I gave you incorrect information.

I've voted on both 'sides' over my relatively short life.

I think think is something we should all be able to get behind, regardless of the 'wing' you consider yourself aligned to.

Yeah, agreed. That's my biggest problem with it. Its definitely useful, and not going away. But it being in everything, and people losing their minds at every new announcement is just getting annoying now 😂
jameseastham.co.uk
Can the over hyping of AI just piss off now please. Yes it will change things. Yes it's here to stay. Yes it has some cool use cases.

Absolutely fed up with all the talk about it. And the forcing of it into places where actually just a nice normal deterministic piece of software would do.

activitypub is “many websites emailing each other”. there’s no prescribed data flow. there’s no shared identity. it’s a bunch of isolated apps that email each other behind the scenes

whereas atproto is more like a set of conventions to allow all apps to act as if their data is in a global database
