Total Drama Island which my daughter watched a couple of years ago had a same-sex couple I think?
I don't recall any fuss over that at the time!
As a parent, I wasn't bothered about her watching it.

Which schools are on the list?

Hmmm. I am very partial to fruit cake myself, although some might think in my case it's bordering on cannibalism.

My Poem 'The Claw' was rejected from Royal Road:

'We allow the usage of real-world religions, political figures, or sensitive real-world content but only in a restricted way'

They may have read it, but it is clear that they did not understand it.

I doubt people arriving in the office the next day after a longer night in the pub will be boosting growth in their workplace!

Hannah Fry knows five words to make you happy.

A bit more economical than the Technomage's 14 words?

The media reminds me of watching a download progress on a 56k modem connection.
An unwatched download never completes...

Just finished The Glass Room by Ann Cleeves.
Now: Dead Beat by Val McDermid.
This was published in 1992, set in Leeds, Bradford and Manchester. At the same time I was studying at the University of Huddersfield. I can relate both to the computer technology of the time and the location.

It's National Poetry Day, so here's something that knocks the Vogons down into fourth place.

On a light-hearted TV Gameshow the question 'whose books were the most shoplifted from book stores last year?' came up.

Terry Pratchett, one of the contestants, buzzed, and answered 'Mine!'.

He's not happy you've scuppered his plans.
Bert - the puppet - from Sesame Street, standing with his arms crossed, looking unhappy.

I wonder if I have just knocked the Vogons down into fourth place?

A very expensive, high-end market-leading CAD system I use, works better with its data folder on C:\ as recommended by their TechSupport.
It's a system that hasn't been updated in 30+ years, with poor usability, and the majority of designers despise but are forced to use by company policies.

In Quantum Mechanics, some properties only become facts when they're observed.

I watched the 2018 Jamie Fox version in French, which made it a little funnier at least.

I joked to my wife that Marion would now just nip down the corridor and use the photocopier to run off copies of the Sheriff's secret plans.

I like Carolyn Cherryh's work and read downbelow station many years ago.

I doubt she would appreciate Ms. Trump's use of her prose.

Checking to see if you have included her own, and husband's books, becasue you know they're the best authors ever. Noone writes better then them. They even had Dan Brown phone them up and tell them how great they were.

French TV is showing Out of Africa in tribute to Robert Redford, but, strangely, a French language dubbed version rather than a subtitled version.

I find this - odd.

We use a load of them at orienteering events. At one event the lorry with the crane was collecting them at the end of the day when the operator heard a scream from the one currently dangling from the crane!
The occupant must have felt like they were on a journey through time and space!

SPOILER - It didn't. I saw Halley's Comet on its then return in 1986 on Upper Deck, Crediton in 16x50 binoculars.

Whenever I need to get my daughter and wife to leave the house I yell:

'Come on you guys, the mice aren't going to hang about in this dimension all day'.

Driving off the ferry at Ouistreham, Caen.

Wife: watch out, people here don't know what they're doing.

Me: Yeah, I'm one of those who don't know what they're doing!
