Far from unbelievable, its incredible it doesn't happen more often. Minimal/poor training, corruption and pay-per-mile make accidents with deaths inevitable.

The gov't lets it happen to make freight cheap. Companies let it happen to maximize profits.

Then you sign some informed consent stuff, take a few blood tests and then you've got your prescription and a handful of papers with community contacts.

At the time I was recovering from some unrelated health issue so it was a longer process, took maybe 4-5 months.

This isn't normal. In Canada, if you are an adult (youth varies per-province) you walk in and say who you are. A social worker asks you some questions about your life history and how you've felt growing up. There aren't really wrong answers. There are no sex questions.
