I have a love-hate relationship with waterbrushes. I have been using a set from #Derwent that work pretty well. I was really exited to se that Jerry’s Artarama has these faux kolinski water brushes for sale and and looking forward to trying them out

Watercolor line and wash sketches of pin oak leaves and acorns. The leaves are medium green when they are young and a light tan in the fall as they fall to the ground. The acorns are small and more globe-like than other acorns. They are green when unripe.

Cindy Lou came through again. She’s been sleeping for a few weeks now but I woke her up yesterday and got her into a batch of no-knead sourdough. It’s a little pale but that’s ok 😂 I cooked it in a Dutch oven but had lined it with parchment paper, hence the pale color #sourdough #nokneadbread

This tithonia was full of bumblebees this evening

Tithonia flowers. These are a bright dark orange on tall bushy plants. There were several bumblebees feeding on the pollen. Tithonia is also called Mexican sunflower.

Next spring, consider treating your lawn with milky spore to kill the beetle grubs before they have time to mature. Of course, this won’t help with beetles that fly in from neighboring properties, but it still may help.

I’ve also had good luck with the traps. I hung them at the edge of my property away from the garden and so far, they’ve kept the beetles away from the ornamental plants. Your level of success might vary depending on how large your protperty is.
