If you see a video with the word “SORA” as a watermark…it’s AI.
Swear to all the gods and goddesses, old and new, if I see another “wild animal approaching people” video, that folks actually believe is real…I’m gonna lose my shit.

It's a shame humanity doesn't feel the exact same way about education, housing, food or medical care.

PSA: If you are so young that you can’t write in cursive, you don’t get to pass judgment on an author's use of punctuation. Human writers have been using periods, ellipses and em-dashes since the 9th century BC. AI steals authors' work to emulate.

Listen up, the coming of rage means the ladies over 40 are just feral now. There is no taming us. Either run with us or we leave you behind. 🤣

What's interesting about not writing for a while after a massive phoenix burning season in my life, is how much I notice my writing voice and style have changed and matured, for the better. #Witerslife #WritingTips #WritingCommunity #Booksky💙📚

Speech and handwriting use different parts of the brain to perform the functions, so that is part of why it feels so different. Writing by hand allows for faster creative flow, and speaking forces the ear to hear the words first, which changes brain focus, specifically vocabulary word choices.

I've tried using Google Drive's voice typing feature to try dictation. It's...awkward for me to speak when I'm used to handwriting and typing. There's a weird disconnect in my brain about it still. I think I just need to get into the flow of it more.

I haven't published in a few years, because life went sideways on me in multiple ways. Writing had to take a back burner for a while. I have nerve damage in my dominant hand and type slow these days. I'm thrilled if I can plan, outline, draft, revise, edit, format, and publish one book a year.

Fed is best. No matter what it is. If you're craving ice cream, that's what is for dinner. You are an adult and you get to eat whatever you want for dinner.

We are all already on lists. The CIA dude already knows you are a writer. Don't worry about it. 😉

You don’t need writing advice. You need high-protein snacks, water, and a slightly concerning obsession with your imaginary friends. #WritersLife #AmWriting #Booksky

You know you’re a writer when “research” means Googling “stages of blood loss", "body decomposition”, “can wolves live on islands”, "hallucinogenic herbs", "ancient spells", "magical knives", "crystal powers", "forgotten languages" and "prehistoric cultures"

Your book doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to exist, preferably in a backup folder, the cloud, your email, a USB drive, an external hard drive and a printed copy in an envelope stuffed in a fire safe box. #WritingTips #WritersLife #Booksky

Writer’s block is either an emotional blockage due to life stress or mental exhaustion. It's just your brain buffering, telling you that you need to rest for a bit. Go take a nap, or a walk. Be creative in other ways for a bit.

You aren't a bad writer if you haven't even finished the story yet. I promise, it's not as bad as you think. Every author starts with one sentence. Then deletes it. Then rewrites it seventeen times. That just makes you a writer. Welcome to the club. #WritingTips #AmWriting #Booksky

It helps to write a summary of your thoughts about the next scene or chapter at the end of your writing session. It's easier to start the next day, without having to reread everything you wrote the day before. #WritingTips #WritingCommunity #Booksky💙📚

Every writer secretly wants to be asked, “How’s your book going?” just so they can dramatically sigh and say, "Don't ask." Nonwriters don't understand that the muse doesn’t show up until after you’ve been sitting for an hour pretending to work.

Writing fiction is 10% typing, 40% staring into space, and 50% wondering if you’re a genius or a fraud. Because every novel begins with “This is going to be amazing” and ends with “Delete the whole thing.” Don't delete. Call it your 1st draft and start revisions. #WritingTips #WritersLife #Booksky

Writers don’t have commitment issues. We’ve been in a relationship with one story for at least five years. That's determination. Grit. Passion.

If you’re stuck because your character isn’t talking to you. Try apologizing for what you’re about to put them through. Reassure them they will survive...or their death will have meaning and they won't be forgotten. #WritingTips #WritersLife #AmWriting #Booksky

Every writer has that one chapter that took 3 hours to write and 3 seconds to delete. Pro tip: Don't delete it. Copy that chapter in a document I like to call Dumpster Fire Chapters. You'll probably want one line or paragraph out of that hot mess in revisions. #WritersLife #WritingStruggles #Booksky

If you can’t decide what happens next in your book, throw a party, murder a character, set something on fire, or make them kiss. Works every time. #PlotTwist #WritingTips #Booksky

You are not “behind.” The book is writing itself...percolating in your mind first, like coffee. Procrastination is part of the process. You are simmering creatively. Like soup. Everyone likes coffee and soup. #WritersLife #AmWriting #Booksky

I genuinely don't understand the snobbery. We are all writers with the same goal: Get our writing out to readers. We are on the same team. A rising tide lifts all boats.

I try to focus this account so it's for my readers, but hey writers:

NEVER sign a contract where the publisher keeps your rights indefinitely. For short stories, there should be a point when you can sell reprints.

and NEVER sign your movie/TV/etc adaptation rights to a publisher. Those are yours.
