New video: Censorship 4 - The Death of Language

Algospeak is incredibly annoying. Unalive, grape, corn star. It’s annoying, but worse than that, it represents something far more sinister: an attack on language itself. Yes, this is me talking about how TikTok and other are evil.

New video essay out now on censorship that goes over some updates on the attacks on games, the difficulty with cleanly defining genre and mature themes, debanking, and the future of the internet itself

The second, focused almost entirely on Collective Shout, PayPal, Stripe, Visa, MasterCard, and the attacks on games: youtu.be/slpSVymLSCk

And next week's (9/26), discussing the complicity of sites like TikTok, YouTube, and OnlyFans in the attacks levied against language itself: youtu.be/kGqF7-Ilzfc

The first essay, covering the (non-valid) reasons people to attack erotic art, what some fantasies are on a deeper level, and the censorious nature of self-publishing sites that "embrace" erotic art: youtu.be/CSA8sv8wY0g

This is getting more attention than I'm used to, so I'll just say I have two video essays discussing this very topic out now, another one that comes out tonight at 6, and one more next week

Tonight's, on gaming, age verification, and the sanitizing of the internet youtu.be/i6u9oS4JnO4

Stripe's anti-art stance is already concerning. It does not speak well for how likely they are to stand up in defense of speech. Hopefully, they learn and improve.
Reminder that Project 2025 redefined pornography in its massive policy plan to include any media that includes trans people. They will use the attacks on erotic art as a pretext to go after queer people. The moves to sanitize and infantilize the internet are part of this assault on speech.
There are a lot of calls to support independent media, rightfully so. But one problem is that substack's biggest investor is Andreesen Horowitz. Another is if the right wing mob figures out how to target stripe next, everything they disfavor could be easily targeted and defunded to silence dissent.
To disengage from the doom of social media for a moment: Between this, the attacks on speech from conservatives re: Kirk, the anger at ABC/Disney for capitulating, and more, we might be about to witness a massive pro-speech, pro-art movement. There is hope in that, and hope is important
Starting to hear rumblings from organizers, activists, interested parties that they want to advance further on protesting payment processors. Not enough to call, not enough to sign petitions. It’s time to protest in person, IRL at the locations of these businesses — PayPal, Visa, MasterCard
I have an annoying habit of only ever listening to the same habit on repeat for months. In other words, I recently listened to The Fame Monster for the first time. It has been replayed probably... 20 times the past couple of weeks?
Jarebear 2: Return of the Big Ass Sweater
But if you don't want that sort of deal, I can also share PDFs and the like of the books and sheet music (the demos are uh... rough as I am not a singer by any means)
For my non-theatre friends, New Play Exchange is a massive library of plays uploaded by those of us who write them. For under $20 a year, you get thousands of works at your fingertips. You can read and recommend them. It's a great place.
