As SNAP hangs in the balance for nearly 42 million people, misinformation is rampant. Myths of laziness and fraud persist when we should be talking about too low wages for workers, income inequality, and our threadbare social safety net.

In this guest post, Adam Chandler sorts fact from fiction:
SNAP benefits feed essential needs while still leaving many hungry for more
Journalist and author Adam Chandler explains what so much of the conversation about them gets wrong.

Dick Cheney was a cruel bureaucrat who made corrupt institutions more abusive. Officials in those institutions then surrendered what was left of their morals to accommodate his evil vision. In time, those institutions became even more corrupt. What politicians say today will be revealing of the rot.

Trump believes New Yorkers have no choice in Cuomo becoming mayor because Cuomo is on the legal team representing Netanyahu against war crimes. They need him in the mayoral position, just like they needed Giuliani.

Netanyahu is why Trump himself lacks choices in certain aspects of his life.
Breaking News: President Trump urged New Yorkers to vote for Andrew Cuomo for mayor, writing on social media, “you really have no choice.” Zohran Mamdani has consistently led in the polls and remains the clear front-runner.
NYC Mayor’s Race Live Updates: Mamdani Leads Polls as Candidates Make Final Push Before Election Day
The president called Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic front-runner, incapable of leading the city and said a vote for the Republican nominee, Curtis Sliwa, would be wasted.

Bovino is the type avoided by his neighbors. You’re having a nice fall day on your porch or raking leaves and here comes crazy Greg.

He doesn’t want to talk but to rant about how trick-or-treaters may be Antifa agents collecting intel on your house.

You see him coming and decide to go inside.

Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 91st day out of the last 103.

12 days of work in 103 days.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.
There was a time when a president with Trump’s record this year would’ve faced some tough questions from 60 minutes. That time has long since passed.

Even the once vaunted 60 minutes has bent the knee.

People fucking hate this guy. They fucking hate ICE. They fucking hate how much power he has. He is at 63% overall disapproval to 37% approval. That's lower than their poll after January 6th. And this poll was done before he started intentionally starving people. I wish our media would reflect this.
Current Democratic leadership has long been part of the problem. But we never said much about it because they were on “our side.”
Nah, call me when a small market team has a real chance to win it all.

A great series, yes. Turn me back into a fan of the sport, no.
Up next they’ll book a residency program featuring Ted Nugent, Lee Greenwood, and Kid Rock. I’m sure tickets will be sold out in minutes. (Sarcasm intended).
Claiming something happened that didn’t (or blowing it wildly out of proportion) is just daily business for some folks.
The picture makes me lol. Musk has access to the world’s most sophisticated AI and computer visualizations.

Yet it captures him explaining the program with a model silver rocket that he’s likely accompanying with “whooshing” sound effects. And Trump stares at him with the attention of a toddler.
Um, what?!? So now he wants to start a war with Venezuela? If we had a functioning Congress there might be a way to check the madman. Unfortunately, we don’t.
How arrogant do you have to be to even take the job with zero experience for the role?

This is the type of appointment you make when you don’t care at all about the results.

Folks, Trump (and his enablers) don’t care about the USA other than for how much money they can stuff in their bank.
This pretty much sums it up. The House is on vacation rather than take action to assist in holding pedophiles accountable. And why? Because one of the possible culprits lives at (sans an East wing) 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
The Senate is still meeting and holding votes as normal despite the shutdown.

The House has not held a vote in a month and a half now solely because Mike Johnson wants to prevent the release of the Epstein Files.

They've killed our government to save their pedophiles.
A quick reminder that the House is not in session because Speaker Johnson CANCELED it, not because of the current shutdown.
I think it’s wrong to say that people don’t care.

I think it’s that (in spite of everything) people still expect those with the actual power to do something (Knock , knock Congress. Anyone home?) will address the wrongdoing.

It’s hard for many to fathom that the system could be that broken.
It’s past time to ask (as Will does) if the shut down isn’t indicative of something more sinister.

By not being in session Johnson can effectively say that the POTUS has to do things via executive order because the house isn’t in session.

It’s a kind of quiet power grab abetted by the House.
The Founders knew Congress - especially the House - was the backbone of U.S. democracy. It should be a huge story that Mike Johnson, serving Trump, has all but shut it down

It’s hard to have faith in a court where the decisions are nearly always predictable.

Never mind that six members seem to wake up daily and say, “Welp, the Constitution is whatever Trump says it is today.”
Maybe all of these writers could stop acting like Trump has a choice. They could stop accepting the words of Representatives and Senators that there’s little they can do.

Any suggestion of a third term should be immediately rejected. Not jokes about or debated, rejected!

We all need to fight Trump's plan for voter suppression and election subversion. We need to recognize that it has multiple dimensions. We need to educate ourselves and our communities and then take action.
They’re probably mad that they were called a “liberal” arts college.
It’s time for reporters to directly ask Mike Johnson if Trump has in effect suspended the House of Representatives.
Somehow I don’t think “Well, it’s better than Lucifer” is quite the cool comeback they think.
