'The Birch Grove, autumn.' Tom Thomson was a great colourist; he painted blood-red sunsets, ominous storms and clouds of every shape and kind; he had a concentrated way of seeing, a Wiliam Blake kind of vision, which made the ordinary extraordinary. This is from 1915.
Had some painting time this morning / early afternoon - but now other things call my attention. So here’s a process photo of the painting and an additional photo of some recent works on paper. #art #artist #artstudio #artsky #oilpainting #fineart #contemporaryart #oilpastels
Having a bit of a rest today, so only some morning sketchbook work to share. See you around tomorrow! #sketchbook #art #artsky #drawing #contecrayon #artist

I quite enjoyed this look at nightclubs in (largely US/UK) films. It accurately describes the odd verisimilitude these iconic scenes embody. It certainly made me a tad nostalgic for my own clubbing days.

Decided to spend the morning working on a detail layer of my current in-progress oil painting. Needed a break from the pastels, and I’m waiting on a resupply order anyway! Have a good one! #art #oilpainting #artist #wipart #fineart #contemporaryart #artprocess
Kind of feel inbetween things today, so I’m just going to share some morning #sketchbook work and get back to it. Have a good one! #art #artist #artsky #drawing

Decided to spend my time today working on my in-progress oil painting - laying down some base colors. Otherwise I just hung a few things, and rearranged a few piles. #art #artsky #contemporaryart #artstudio #oilpainting #oilpastels
A hectic morning, so only time to share some #sketchbook work before I get back to it. Have a good one, see you tomorrow!

Sadly, thanks to the mod team, this post has been auto-labeled as “sexually suggestive” and probably won’t get seen all that much.

In 1916, Edvard Munch bought a property known as Ekely in the town of Skøyen, near present-day Oslo. The two-story villa served as his house and studio, becoming for Munch what Giverny was for Monet. This self-portrait was painted while he was visiting Bergen for an exhibition.
