Interesting factlets about Digital ID...

Government is proposing a massive extension of right to work checks, to sweep up not just employees but all individuals providing services otherwise than to consumers. So the whole gig economy and even including eg barristers (shock!)... /1

Please don't forget the ID card petition, it's inching towards 3m signatures. I know they've said tbey'll do it anyway, but we've been here before under Blair. This will have the effect of kicking it into the long grass where it will be quietly abandoned.

It seems terfs have a problem with trans women's height.

I hope they don't visit the Netherlands too often then.

But it pleases me that at >2m tall, I boil the piss of every terf on sight.

The reality is that cis voices are prioritised over trans voices. Real allyship requires us to exploit this to gain access to media & political support WITHOUT EVER speaking over the trans community. If it is to work and not be another org pushing trans ppl aside, it MUST get this balance right

My role is to protect & defend my child, but I will never be inside of her experience in the way that trans adults are. As an autistic person, I hate the way that autism mums centre themselves in all discussions, paint themselves as "brave warriors" and worthy of respect for doing the bare minimum

As a parent to a trans teen I'm following with caution. There is a need for vocally supportive & affirmative parents to counteract the likes of Bayswater & Esther Ghey types. But I am concerned that ths could go the way of many autism/disability parent groups where those experiences are centred

Post Brianna Wu O Subscribe Trans sisters. I'm pretty sure I was wrong. I an somy. I genuinely thought that as a trans woman, if ceded some points with the gender critical crowd we could have a healthier conversation and arrive at better public policy. The problem is, they are getting crazier and more extreme. If you admit "trans women don't belong in women's sports" they agree, but call you a man the whole time. If you admit, "I understand I am a biological man, but this is how I want to live my life and talking about me like this is degrading" they scream about free speech. If you admit that hurtful language is part of free speech but you don't have to associate with people that degrade you, they act like the victim and call you a man and then say you should be thrown in an insane asylum. It's like this on everything. They are incapable of looking for a middle ground on bathrooms. They want maximalist policies on everything. They'd throw a fully transitioned, fully passing trans woman in male prison genpop and laugh as she got aids from being raped. I want a middle ground on so many of these polices. BUT THE FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEM IS THEY DO NOT. They enjoy degrading us, it's fun for them. So, sisters. I genuinely don't know what to do. I think many of our most extreme ideas are bad. But theirs are worse. So if I have to pick, I choose us. I wish there were a political vehicle for compromise and medical safeguarding. But that just simply does not exist. From a journalist perspective I find it fascinating how little coverage both groups are getting from an institutionally captured media. This tells me they aren't turning people against their cause, and the terfs are running scared that more coverage would harm them not the trans community.

... but as a direct action group they are no dpubt prepared to live with that.

I think Trans Kids Deserve Better hit more of a sweet spot because they're kids and arresting kids is a bad look, and while things like camping on the facade of the DoH may be illegal, they're perfectly nuanced to annoy.

Any direct action campaign has to be nuanced, and just stop oil are a great example of a group who lost that nuance.

I don't think Bash Back have crossed that line in that outside a few terfs, nobody is that affected.

What they are doing is definitely illegal and they may get caught ...
