Your argument wouldn’t be my argument for why it’s a tough sell tbh

On one level it doesn’t matter (he’s gone away now for the timebeing) but when I saw what Labour nationally were saying tonight, I did a slight double take

I assume it was part of the general pitch to the membership, but was struck by his stance when people rang into Radio Mcr - few days before conference, when he made a notably big deal of being married to a European and Farage being to blame for loads of things (my notes from Sept 25, not quotes)

No 10 may hate Burnham, but he was out on the radio well before conference arguing this general pivot towards “it’s his fault”

AB did, as the article says, shoot and miss. What it doesn’t note is he did also make a distinct pitch in the run-up to and during conference that Labour should blame Farage for a lot of what’s happening. My recollection is hearing that first from AB, not Starmer

Keir Starmer’s plan to blame Nigel Farage for budget tax rises
With Reform UK threatening the end of two-party politics, both Labour and the Tories are fighting to stay relevant as conference season comes to an end

Lovely thankyou. I’ve still not forgiven selfridges for replacing its mad food bit full of dried scorpions with makeup

Anyone know if the food floor in the Manchester Harvey Nichols still exists? I’ve only been there once and that was 15 years ago so I’m not going to go to the effort of going upstairs again if it’s not there. Thanks in advance, this feels like a good use of social media #journorequest

There’s a place I came across over the summer but it was in Cumbria, I’m not sure about Manchester. Nothing is getting chucked yet, it’s an initial sifting process. There are a lot of

Think it was because the product was undrinkable. iirc once it had been sampled the rest was abandoned

Today’s task is to go through many dusty books I scooped up when clearing out my parents’ house, from a high shelf on the landing. Retro. I remember the winemaking phase, but only because the “wine” remained in the airing cupboard gathering dust through the 90s

Final thought is that I think there will be a strong desire at national level - for obvious national electoral reasons - that Reform councils dont appear financially wild. So despite council tax/DOGE promises, needing to balance the books in a sober way has to ultimately win out.
