Oct 10, 1975: the City of Toronto serves formal notice of its intention to designate Toronto Union Station under the Ontario Heritage Act. The designation would have given the building far more protection than National Historic Site designation, which also occurred in 1975. 1/2

I feel exactly the same way. 💸

A good print will have to suffice.

Much agreed Kara! I'm hoping that whoever buys it makes it readily available for local public viewings.

From the Hudson’s Bay Company Collection — now being sold after HBC’s bankruptcy.

I feel we should ask City of Toronto or the Toronto Public Library, or the AGO to acquire this painting and keep it public within the city it depicts.

Today, it’s known as the Coca-Cola Coliseum, home to the Toronto Sceptres of the Professional Women’s Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies, the Maple Leafs’ AHL affiliate.

In 2026, it will also welcome the Toronto Tempo, the city’s new professional basketball team.

For many years, this historic house was presented as a museum of 1830s life — I still remember the smell of freshly baked bread offered to visitors. I miss that simple charm.

Today, The Grange remains part of the AGO, housing the Norma Ridley Members’ Lounge and exhibition spaces.

Built in 1817 as the home of D’Arcy Boulton Jr., his wife Sarah Anne, and their eight children, The Grange became the Art Museum of Toronto almost a century later, in 1913. By 1966, it had evolved into what we now know as the Art Gallery of Ontario.

Now known as St. John’s Rehab, it was the first hospital in the Toronto area dedicated to rehabilitation care.

Founded in 1937 by the Sisterhood of St. John the Divine—pioneers in health care since 1885—it has long promoted healing of the mind, body, and soul.
