Boy, was Filip Gustavsson good for Minnesota last night.

He's so precise with his positioning & squareness, it makes rebound control look easy. Even when fighting through traffic, he was a black hole absorbing every puck that hit him.
jessegranger.bsky.social
I don’t really know what to say about that.

Golden Knights somehow win 4-3 in OT.
jessegranger.bsky.social
Wow

San Jose somehow gets stuffed on the goal line on the empty net, then Jack Eichel scores on a dump in.

3-3 with 1:34 to play

Wedgewood improves to 2-0-0, and has allowed 2 total goals this season.

Love what I’ve seen from Scott Wedgewood in the preseason, and so far tonight.

He plays a simple, calm game. He stays in position, challenges and makes himself big, drops into butterfly and lets the puck hit him. He’s looked very under control.

The Golden Knights have already scored 3 identical power play goals.

It’s tough to defend. If teams try to take away the pass from Stone to Dorofeyev, it will sacrifice coverage on Hertl in front. He showed last year he will score if you leave him open.

The power play is 3/7

Pavel Dorofeyev scores his 4th of the season.

Midway through game 2.

He’s on pace for 164.

That was an amazing block by Brayden McNabb, but unfortunately it goes straight to a Shark stick.

They were just outnumbered down low on the two man advantage.

2-1
jessegranger.bsky.social
That’s William Karlsson’s second penalty in two games.

He has matched his penalty minutes from all of last season (4).
jessegranger.bsky.social
Spectacular individual play by Brett Howden, and shockingly bad defense by the Sharks.

1-1
jessegranger.bsky.social
San Jose strikes first with a goal by Jeff Skinner that he knocked out of mid air.
jessegranger.bsky.social
The Sharks center circle is out of control.
jessegranger.bsky.social
Wow! What a paddle save by Joonas Korpisalo in overtime.

That was insane
jessegranger.bsky.social
Ben Hutton is in for Noah Hanifin tonight in San Jose.

Akira Schmid in net for Vegas on the 2nd night of the back to back.
jessegranger.bsky.social
Igor Shesterkin is absolutely dialed to start the season.

65 saves on 66 shots
.985 save %

Less-than-ideal start for John Gibson’s Red Wings debut….

On the bright side, those Detroit uniforms are incredible and Gibby’s vintage setup looks tremendous with them.

Goalie coaches raved about Dustin Wolf's complete game in this year's Goalie Tiers. Several panelists love how he combines his reads with skating ability and athleticism.

By locking in Jack Eichel, Golden Knights won’t let Oilers run away with the West

My column on Eichel’s $106 million extension, and his 4-point night playing alongside Mitch Marner for the first time

In Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner, Vegas locks up two of the most dynamic players in the NHL for the foreseeable future.

Bruce Cassidy on Jack Eichel's extension- "Good for Jack. I’m happy for him. He’s a great guy and deserves every penny. I’m glad to see he committed for eight years here."
jessegranger.bsky.social
Jack Eichel on how much the talent of the roster played a factor in his decision to stay in Vegas- "That’s one of the reasons why this is such a special place to play. It’s an organization that wants to win the Stanley Cup every year, and as a player, that’s all you can ask for."
jessegranger.bsky.social
Jack Eichel on signing the extension- "There’s definitely some peace of mind that comes with getting something done. I said all along that I want to be here and playing for the Vegas Golden Knights, so I’m really happy to get it done. I’m so happy to continue my career here in Vegas."

Final- Kings 6, Golden Knights 5 in a shootout

Vegas plays again tomorrow night in San Jose.
jessegranger.bsky.social
First game of the year, and what a hockey game it has been!

Golden Knights and Kings are heading to OT tied 5-5.
jessegranger.bsky.social
Brandt Clarke ties it 5-5 with a backdoor tap-in.

Another great play by Quinton Byfield, who looks like he's leveled up for 2025-26.
jessegranger.bsky.social
Trevor Moore makes it 5-4 with a shorthanded breakaway.

Jack Eichel today:
