Roslindale to Cambridge. I'll probably talk most about local politics and housing policy. Also into space stuff. Very bad Learned League player.

There are many people like Christine, who would benefit so much from a safe, clean, private space to call their own. We can build more of them.

But we need a city council willing to, even when it gets hard.

I biked home in the dark from North Cambridge recently—which I wouldn’t have felt safe doing before the protected bike lanes.

One thing I love about biking in a city is you can stop & check things out in a way you can’t in a car.

Like the telescopes on Cambridge Common for Observe the Moon night!

CCC helpfully demonstrating how "strategically" endorsing someone who disagrees with your policy positions can backfire

Join CBS for a bike safety event on Tuesday, October
7, at 6:30 PM at Portico Brewery, just over the line in
Somerville in Boynton Yards. This short course will
cover the necessary steps you need to take if you are
ever in a crash so you are better prepared.

Where is it "appropriate" to build affordable housing, supportive housing, mixed income housing? It is appropriate in every neighborhood.
jfsheehan.bsky.social
Unfortunately I can. Renters are still an afterthought when it comes to voting, despite the housing crisis supposedly being a top state issue. And our Secretary of State Bill Galvin opposes same day registration.
jfsheehan.bsky.social
MA elections should not be held on September 1, by far the biggest moving day in the state, because it makes it harder for renters to vote.

This is one of many reasons Cambridge's multi-family zoning reform, which relegalizes small and midsize apartment buildings city-wide, is good, actually.

Good. As Mayor Wu said, Boston is not for sale.

Josh Kraft has dropped out of the Boston mayor's race. His exit is an abrupt shift for a candidate who spent $5.5 million of his own money on the campaign.
Josh Kraft bows out of Boston race for mayor
Josh Kraft has dropped out of the Boston mayor's race, two days after incumbent Michelle Wu trounced him in the city's preliminary election.

No, but I think it will be available on CCTV's Vimeo page at some point

Wow. I hadn't read the whole thing yet. Yeah that's worse than I thought. Combining an outright lie with insulting and dismissing 2/3 of the city. Unfortunately I can't not vote for her any harder than I was going to anyway, but it's good motivation to double down on supporting good candidates.

Ah you're right, thank you for the correction!

I don't bike, but my fiance does, and my desire to see him come home from work alive and unhurt every day certainly makes this an issue I prioritize on my ballot.

I'm not sure that's her definition of community, but I agree her idea of it seems to all but exclude cyclists.

On the CBS questionnaire she said we need to rethink the City's commitment to Vision Zero. (!!) I knew she wasn't bike friendly, but seeing that in writing so explicitly did surprise me.

CCTV usually airs the recording of ABC's candidate forum a few times before the election. I encourage everyone to watch it in full!

It's very informative - there's no way I could do real justice to everything the candidates said. Every candidate said much more than the few highlights I captured.

Forum is over. As always, I aim to be accurate but I don't pretend to be unbiased.

Denise Simmons arrives. She was in fact dealing with a family that needs urgent help. She cautions against rumors and fear, and asks for patience re sharing any the details as she doesn't want to further endanger anyone.

Mod cites a very fiery quote Zusy said at an earlier time deciding groups like ABC as a special interest group and calling renters here "transients." She acknowledges she was tired when she said that, but imo doesn't really make it better.
