Often see comments from my US friends about the American and European Robin sharing the same name but being different. US Robins are members of the Thrush family while European ones are actually members of the Old World Flycatcher family. They are not related at all.

In the north of England where I'm from originally, years ago locals were asked if they wanted Alicker on their fish and chips! It was short for Ale-liqour and actually simply meant vinegar!!
