How do people deal with all those things that probably won’t happen but would be huge disasters if they did? In this article I have tried to briefly summarize what we know, what we don’t know, what we can do, and what we need to find out.

Fantastiskt!

Learning how to use semicolons were like learning to ride a bike; it opened up so many new possibilities.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Very pleased that the special section I've edited with some colleagues (none of them on Bluesky, unfortunately) on Enriching Psychological Research by Exploring the Source and Nature of Noise is now published in PPS! Links to all of the articles in the section below.

Enriching Psychological Research by Exploring the Source and Nature of Noise - Joakim Sundh, Philip Millroth, August Collsiöö, Peter Juslin, 2025
In psychological research, noise is often considered a nuisance that obscures rather than contributes information. This simplification overlooks that noise can ...

I don't fully buy all of his conclusions and I think that the theory has a few holes, but I think that this kind of human behavior makes a lot more sense if we consider values to be more an emergent phenomenon than an innate trait.

Have you read The Mind is Flat, by Nick Chater? According to his hypothesis, opinions, attitudes etc. are the mind trying to make sense of our behavior, while behavior are governed mostly by habit and improvisation. In that perspective, values are governed by behavior, not the other way around.

I actually tend to find some solace in history podcasts for this exact reason. Of course, this can potentially backfire if the themes get too dark, so careful curation is probably advisable.

I remember our post-seminar discussion on the same theme! I still believe that unless we can find a general purpose definition of "thinking", which I think is very unlikely to happen, this question cannot be meaningfully answered. We'll see if your paper convinces me differently. 🙂

I don't usually get emotionally invested in celebrity deaths but this one kind of hurts. His works mean a lot to me and from what I could tell he seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

Really looking forward to this one! I read it for the first time just recently and it’ll be great hearing your take on it.
