In November 2020, a study done by nonpartisan Government Accountability Office found that Walmart and McDonald’s are among the top employers of beneficiaries of federal aid programs like Medicaid and food stamps.
This past year, Walmart has been Missouri's largest employer of over 43,200 workers, yet refuses to pay living wages. If the largest employer in Missouri refuses to pay workers what they are worth, the effect is that Missourians are living in poverty and have a lower quality of life.
Why do working people rely heavily on food stamps?

Because the multi-billion dollar industries they work for pay poverty wages. It's that simple.
And on Saturday, November 8, join IREHR for a teach-in about Leonard’s work, the fight against white nationalism, and the movement for a democracy that works for all of us. @standupkc and MWC leader Terrence Wise will be speaking!

Leonard Zeskind was a strong ally to workers building power across Missouri and a world-renowned researcher on the threat of white nationalism to our democracy. Please join us for his Celebration of Life on Sunday, November 9 at 2pm in Congregation Beth Torah.
repost from @moworkers.org

We honor Leonard’s legacy as we advance workers’ power on and off the job, beating back the billionaires and racists who seek to exploit and divide us. Both events are free, but space is limited. Scan the QR codes to register! 🤳

Take the momentum of No Kings and keep fighting. Organize your workplace. Organize your neighbors. Speak out in solidarity. Stand up with your community. Fight back. Vote. It’s the American thing to do.
James Baldwin wrote: “I love America more than any country in the world and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually.”
We cannot let ourselves be overwhelmed or scared into isolation and powerlessness. We have the people power.
No Kings 2.0 Rally saw millions of Americans protest in a time of great reckoning. It is our civic duty to stand up against a corrupt government profiting off the pain of the people who make up the fabric of its society.
