My friend on council (from what I can see, one of only three good'uns) is holding out hope for the specials (i mean, my vote hasn't been counted yet and I didn't vote for any of these clowns!)

And election before last Amy Adams had largest majority of any National MP.

But we also have a university/CRIs & highly educated people who live here who wouldn't vote this way.

I have worked with many of these council staff over the last decade and there are some awesome people there. I've already had one fearing funding cuts for her department.

Yeah, Lydia Glidden was already there, now mayor, and so was Elizabeth Mundt. Lots of retirements from council - think eight retired? They've mostly been replaced by 'red flagged' candidates. Check out Paul's video for Selwyn - Denise, Zoran, Big Red, Bex, John, Sam W and Tracey all got in.

There are many intelligent, sensible and kind people in Waikirikiri but due to voter apathy we have a new council dominated by VFF climate change deniers, racists, conspiracy theorists, Trump-lovers and Jacinda-haters. #nzpol

3) the huge swell in Saturday voters makes me more concerned about incoming disenfranchisement changes to same day enrolments for next year.
4) Selwyn should carry a travel advisory warning from now on, same with Cambridge and Hamilton.
5) the lack of civics education here is really showing.

Waikirikiri Selwyn is now the poster child for what happens when highly organised & well supported disinformation campaigns, coupled with widespread local government disengagement esp. amongst the young, plus a generally conservative population align - our new council is dominated by cookers #nzpol

Yeah we have a mayor who described Jacinda as a tyrant, and she's not the worst of them; so many cookers! Really hope Sarah gets up in my ward and knocks out the ACT dude. Feel for my friend and hard-working councilor Sophie McInnes who will have her work cut out for her.

So when I hear of students being encouraged to use GPT in college I don’t hear innovation. I hear cognitive atrophy, the inability to think critically for oneself, and total dependence on vulnerable centralized repositories of data for knowledge without ever understanding how knowledge is generated.
