Actually, getting a $50 million BUYOUT is MORE THAN FAIR.
In fact, Franklin took PSU to many high profile postseason bowl games, whereas our own knucklehead here in Nebraska, Matt Ruhle, will probably get a similar buyout, yet he has NOT given us much, if any, post-season benefit.

It did NOT hurt that they also had 3 MVPs in their lineup (Freeman, Mookie, Ohtani), as well as 2 more guys who always wake up in October (Muncy and Kike Hernandez).
There is only 1 other team in MLB that has a roster barely close to that: Yankees, but do NOT have an awesome pitching staff.
