It’s like having blinders on regarding the “state of gaming”. I can just relax and enjoy this media, just us two. I can think, I’m not always connected in the back of my mind. Able to switch over to YouTube in a split second, or worry about notifications. It really is almost disconnecting (positive)

You know what’s cool about playing retro titles?

Zero stakes. The game is there on the disc. You’re alone with it in your room. It’s all right there, you’re engaging fully with interactive media on a base level. No DLC, updates, connecting online, friend requests, newsletters, etc.

If they do have it in them to discuss anything other than leveling systems and comparing to other games similar to one they’re discussing, I haven’t seen it.

The Besties gaming podcast is great but they’ve slowly been irking me with their clear bias towards “numbers and levels” games.

Seeing them limit the new Silent Hill to the B segment to instead discuss another Rogue-like is extremely exhausting.
