This sort of change doesn’t happen overnight. If you can, the successor to any MD or CEO is in a lesser post 6-12 months prior to being unveiled. This is to

1. Don’t shock your share price
2. Claim to recruit from within
3. Give the new CEO a chance to shape his first 6 - 12 months then 5 yr plan

In business (even football) these kind of changes are done 1 year to 6 months prior. If you can you will always bring in the successor at a lessor role before. Vinai will be the replacement.
