Idk, I just like how distorted photos look for my illustrations (probably would still hand draw bgs for commissions though unless the client gave me a specific photo to use)

I think my last two drawings are examples of a good and a bad way of implementing irl photos into my art.

And incase you're wondering, yes, it is 100% a stylistic choice to use photos and I spend about the same time editing the pic as much as I did hand drawing backgrounds.
