I think a LOT of "old people habits/sayings" are the fault of young people starting to feel their age, channeling that stereotypical old person as a bit to cope and then it just sticks.

I think it depends on how it affects the match.

If the scramble to help him cuts the match off and/or it's a gruesome sight, I say don't run it.

If it's one of those "we checked after the match and learned that this injury occurred", just run it IMO.
